One smallish, 32 year old WR, with 19 catches on the year, is not going to come in here and change the fortunes of our season.

1. The OC is out here running a Pop Warner offense with about as much creativity as an 8 pack of crayons allows.

2. Against real defenses, with real pass rushing threats, this OL folds up like a lawn chair.

3. The defense couldn't stop a Division III walk-on RB from getting 100 yards rushing at this point.

None of this is helped by a WR who hasn't cracked 700 yds since 2021 and is now on his 6th team.

The last time the Bills drafted in the top 20 was in 2019 with Ed Oliver. In last two drafts the Rams and Bills both had six picks in top 100. Rams at 19, 39, 83, 99 46, 90 Bills at  33, 60, 95 30, 41 and 72. I see more higher picks on Rams side. So yeah think Rams draft position helps. Yet could counter point.

I guess that what I’m saying, is that with the exception of Verse, the Bills had an opportunity to add anyone that the Rams took. The Rams and Eagles are so well run. They’ve just hit at a much higher percentage than most teams. They have high end players on rookie deals. That’s a necessity in today’s NFL.

It's amazing how many board members are "told" things from a regime that even Adam Schefter can't get info on. Yet every third poster on this board has a trusted source.

I agree they have some of the best NFL front offices/coaching staff in the league. Yet as elite as they are the Bills are just a step or two below them which isn't to me worth blowing up as again change just for change sake isn't the wisest of things to do. I think some fans here think that just because we have Josh Allen that anyone would succeed with him when truth be told I disagree with it because there are 52 (and more) other guys and coaching staff on this team that have to contribute on some level to make us win/lose. I mean KC has Mahomes and same coaching staff as have had in for how long? Yet they've fallen a few pegs this season, why? In part because of injuries and teams behind them also have improved. Same thing happening here.

Davis and Cooks could be our two best WR and they found them during the season.  The bills have future HOF at QB.

it's a mind blowing.

If anyone can explain the GM's tought process in the offeason, please tell me. I just cant understand.

I think that’s fair. The Bills have certainly had challenges this year. The difference with the Bills and KC though is that their group has PROVEN that they can get it done. They been to 5 and won 3 or something like that? This Bills regime doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt that the KC regime gets. They are in year 7 as a team that “can” win the Super Bowl and have played in 2 AFC title games.

The Bills roster, if you replaced Josh with Brock Purdy (for example), would win about 5 or 6 games. He is the single most important player to his team in the NFL. They had a Vegas oddsmaker on this offseason and he said that Josh Allen missing a game would move the spread over 7 points, more than any other player in football (Lamar was next). The team isn’t very good and that’s on Beane.

With that being said, where I think that we disagree is on the floor. Let’s say that the Bills finish this year 11-6. That seems reasonable. If you would have replaced McDermott with Mike Kafka (for a random example) how much worse would they be? Which games were won with coaching? In fact, you could make a strong case that replacement level coaching would be an improvement this year. The floor with a competent HC is about where they’ll be this year. If you replaced McDermott with Robert Salah (as another random example) you don’t become a 6 win team (as long as Josh is healthy). There is little to no downside risk and unlimited upside.

Oh boy, i looked at some of the national sentiment on social media. Lots of media types are clowning on the Bills for this signing.  I mean it’s worth a swing right?!

if KC had done it, they'd be praised

This is just a cry for help at this point. I hope this is the end of Beane, for a guy who told us all to shut up he's now signing anyone he can plug the holes he created.

Remember when he said he "didn't want to become the Rams"?  What a clown.

Has the poor fellow been subjected to the mandatory welcome interview with Ms. Glab?  Done the in house media Q&A for "Which restaurant has the best wings?"

If he says he likes ranch dressing, I’m painting a dick on his lawn. I don’t care if it’s at a hotel.
