Well he was drafted 8 picks before Calvin Benjamin and 16 picks after the last time the Bills drafted a WR in the 1st round.

Guess we have that going for us, which is nice.

We need to put to rest the combination of the name "Brady" and the phrase "scheme him open." If Cooks doesn't get open in the mesh concept, he can join Palmer, Moore, Coleman, and Shavers. In Brady's scheme, wide receivers come to die.

It frustrates the hell outta me

It will be very intriguing to see his status for this week. If he's a healthy scratch again, then damn.

I felt like they would give him one more chance and somehow get him to have a come to Jesus moment, but I dunno. If he's truly done here then holy hell, I think he might be our new all time bust.

Yes, Coleman gets another chance this week.  5 catches for 70 yards.  Cooks will be the best thing that’s ever happened to 0.

While I am in agreement it's better to do something rather than nothing,,,,

You can't take the burnt ends of Brandin Cooks, Gabe Davis, Curtis Samuel, Elijah Moore and Mercole Hardman-to create a Tee Higgins (the healthy version). Not wasting any more breath on the WR situation this year... next year any cute excuses why we don't need a #1 WR are inexcusable, and then something from our island of misfit toys -which is everyone but Shakir, who is an excellent #3 but nothing except that -will have to step up and be adequate.

This is the same story every year. They don’t value the position in the draft. They don’t spend in the off season to get a high level player. They sign over the hill WRs to fill out the team. They get into the middle of the season, losing games, and realize the offense can’t function with who they have. And then they do the mid season signing of some vet that was cut. I’d rather they just prioritize WR earlier and go shopping for a linebacker or other position in mid-season.

Not to mention what horrible cap management it is by not drafting them and instead signing many JAG WRs for 10-14 million dollar contracts every year.

I disagree

There's no evidence of him being able to be anything more than a backup wideout. His contract was horrid, and that's another black mark on Beane

They did not get his contract.  He cleared waivers and was signed as a free agent.

I’m all for mocking beane for the offseason but I’m honestly kinda into this signing at this point.  Stings a little less that shaheed is doing virtually nothing in Seattle despite getting over 50% of the snaps and playing under Kubiak previously.  Obviously that could all change in a single game though 😂

Josh Allen and Brandon Beane.

There’s probably a 60% chance this does little for us due to the OC / what Cooks has left

maybe 30% chance he makes a few plays

10% make him the primary target after Kincaid and it moves the needle for the offense

That depends. What can the coupon be exchanged for?

Fair point but since I know what you’re thinking lemme just say no, not that. It’s a lame coupon.

Except there actually is evidence.  He’s consistently in the top 10 in yards per catch.  He’s made lots of plays downfield.  I’m not saying that he’s great, but he’s shown to be a capable downfield producer much more than he has been with us.  His usage is questionable imo

Predictably, 90% of the punters posting here are trashing the move. At least Cooks has been generally avaible during his career. Something most key Bills can't say. Plus, the unavailability of Oliver and Kincaid are sited as the biggest reasons the Bills are floudering. Yet both are made of glass, and typically not available in the teams biggest moments. The Bills relying on Oliver and Kincaid are one the biggest flaws of the organization. Beane has built a team of undersized players at most positions. That's why they have no trophies in the case, and Josh'scareer is being wasted!!

Beane has egg all over his face.

at least he is overcoming his ego and pride by trying to fix it now.  He could do nothing.

At least I’ll say this Beane at least acknowledges when he’s a screw up. He just needs to stop screwing it up. I wonder if this season is a kick in his pants to finally get Josh the weapons he needs at the cost of Dline

Unless Beane goes on WGR and apologizes to the hosts and publicly admits he was wrong this doesn’t mean squat. This is just a desperation to try and save face.
