This is my first post of this season as the result of not having much access to a phone as the result of a deployment.

I apologize for having to catch up. Tonight is the first game I have watched this season. Only caught some highlights, basic storylines, and our record.

Forgive my ignorance, but the team looks terrible. Before I watched, I thought our offensive line was supposed to be good. I thought Allen was much better at limiting mistakes. I thought we had become more of a running team.

Help me understand. Orher than at the end, what are these little screens being run?

I heard we had some injuries, but everyone looks slow on defense. I guess Coleman is worse now too.

I know the Texans have a great defense. I thought we had a great offense. The defense looks pretty bad also. Why is Cook running so little?

Literally, what happened?

Yes..it is one game and the only one I have seen. Based on what I saw, either the Bills are Fool's Gold because they have a lot of wins, or there must be a lot of crappy teams this year.

I will try to catch up on all the other posts.

Only good thing...Thanksgiving and Holiday wishes all.

This team has been in a funk all year long.

It is the worst coached Bills team we have seen in the Allen era, and it's not even close, imo.

There is no attention to detail, both sides of the ball are frequently confused and on different pages, self-scouting and situational awareness are completely absent on Sundays and there is no good answer at this point of the season.

The player can sense it and as a result we are seeing multiple games with unfocused, unmotivated players. The only time they really get geeked is when the play rivalry games against opponents they personally dislike (Chiefs, Jets, Ravens), the rest of the season they have mostly been going through the motions.

Unless they get younger at multiple positions and retool with an entirely new coaching staff, we are probably going to see more of the same going forward.

That was not a hopeful message, but thank you for the insight.

Other than the Cook touchdown, I saw no pressure on their QB and bad tackling. And, on offense it looked boring? Maybe, uninspiring.

The Hook and Ladder play was cool.

Both of those things have been a recurring issue all year long.

We may lead the league in missed tackles.

And Brady's predictable, repetitive, chickenspit offense has absolutely been boring and uninspiring.

Thanks for your service. @simon had a good summary.  Basically by every metric minus Cook and Bishop this team is worse than last year.  The D is abysmal, and the WRs are bad outside of Shakir who on a good team is a 2 or 3. The piss poor coaching and FO bad decisions are finally coming to a head.

I just thought they turned a corner vs Tampa but obviously we didn't. This was such a bad loss and reflection of McDermott in this era

I wanted them to grind out a tough win, on a short week, on the road vs a very tough defense. Act like an adult contender. Every frickin game with the confusion on defense, guys scattered and looking confused. I mean my God, some of these guys have been in this " system" for frickin years!!!!

And they completely unravel. This isn't how it's supposed to look in an 8 year build with a Hof QB

Think of the 80s 49ers or Brady Patriots.... We aren't close. Winning a tough ugly game tonight with no turnovers would've been a very mature win.

When has the defense under this regime ever looked like anything close to the Texans tonight??? Pass rush???

I'm over it with McDermott and Beane. I'm just tired of it

Surprisingly Simon the advanced stats show the bills are not leading the league in missed tackles

THANK YOU for the sacrifices you are making for us.

As for our Bills, what you saw is what it has been. There have been some bright spots, but it's been that kind of season.

@Wizard it's great to have your thoughts... we get used to the declining level of play like frogs in a slowly heating pot...

But yeah combined to the Bills of 2020-2023, we look a lot different.

Defense playing small and much slower.

Josh's confidence has been affected. Remember in 2020 when he had NEVER had a turnover in the red zone?

Offensive playcalling is very predictable which means we tend to lose when the other team's defense is any good.

I can't remember the last time we lined up in a formation and DIDN'T run the play we always run out of that formation.

We do have 7 wins because we have Allen, Cook, and an O line that can look dominant.

Happy Thanksgiving and let's hope the Bills can make some adjustments!

These guys nailed it above with where we're at. We got old in players & scheme and the rest of the league caught up. It's a reflection of poor personnel decisions by Brandon Beane and stale coaching. Happens after 9 years. (KC is going through similar problems). Patriots will contend for the division going forward.

Thanks again for all you do. Happy Holidays to you & your family. Go Bills!

Great post and spot on.  Look, what is the definition of insanity? Well this org. Keeps doing it.

Terry has to make some cha ges ASAP. My fear is will Allen make it out of this season without a major injury.

We need new coordinators. As bad as the Bills defense has been, you at least see them make some stops here and there and adjust. McDermott has gotten involved to stop the bleeding. The offense, though, is utterly incapable of getting out of a slump or making any adjustments. It seems they have to see a play get stuffed three or four times before they stop calling it. Brady just isn't the guy.

I'm not sure it makes sense to love on from them until the end of the season because there are no upgrades to be had right now. I'd be all for bringing back Daboll next year.

To add to the points made about confusion, there were so many times against Houston where Allen was having to hurry the snap as the play clock wound down under 5… and everytime it happened, the Houston DE’s were shot out of a cannon anticipating the snap.

This team has every element of a poorly coached team, on both sides of the ball.

Josh even had his hesitation moment in the Q&A where he had to decide whether to throw Brady under the bus a bit and finally decided to say that failed 4th down call where Cook got stuffed came in late and he should’ve used a TO.

Nevermind how many times this Defense isn’t set when the opponent snaps it .. which is being scouted as teams know we communicate late in the clock and get set late.

Poor tackling on Defense, poor effort on Offense.

Only hope is that they do get up for big games and they don’t get bigger than the Playoffs.

This, for me, is it.   The Bills staff looks at the year end stats and late playoff close loss.  And think we’re close, let’s just keep things as is and we’ll get over the hump.  But the league has caught up and figured them out.  Add to it, older players that get injured every game and you have the 2025 Bills.

I have every bit of

confidence that they’re gonna pulled out more wins than losses and make the playoffs.  I also have every bit of confidence that they’ll get beat, most likely, in the divisional round.   The only think I’m not sure of….will Pegula say I want a SuperBowl and make changes to reflect that.

NFL history is replete with great teams and coaches that were really good and always competitive, but got complacent and never reached their full potential.   Unfortunately, if there aren’t significant coaching changes this offseason…that will be the fate of this team that we’ll all just need to accept.  We had fun cheering for this team during the drought, I’ll have fun cheering for them during whatever this losing era will be called.

It’s the Bills.   We don’t get to win it all. That’s what I’ve long since known and finally resigned myself to accept once again.  Josh is a unicorn but even he can’t overcome the curse upon this franchise.

Funny thing is, a lot of people here predict we’ll lose in the Div Round..

If we’re a WC, unless Pittsburgh holds onto the Division, Jax takes the South or we play NE, winning the WC Round likely means beating one of Denver, Indy, Houston (dark horse) or Baltimore on the road.

If we win that game, on the road, I’d think we’re going to the Super Bowl tbh.  Would mean we beat an elite defense or elite run game on the road.  Two things that give us issues and we’ve never won a road playoff game with this group.

The way this year is set up, our WC game could very well be a tougher matchup than the Divisional Round.

But the coordinators do what McDermott wants.  You can bet they aren't allowed to vary it at all.

So the change needs to be from the top down
