I think the Bills always saw in Shavers what some people are seeing in him now. They also saw that he had a lot to learn. Finally, they saw a guy who was willing to put in the time, work, and learn. He kept getting better every season. And he kept getting closer to making the roster. I think what we're seeing is McDermott's patience with the guy paying off. What I really like is that Shavers, Palmer, and Davis present big targets to Josh, and I think Josh is comfortable throwing at those targets. He looked different yesterday. The touchdown to Shavers looked very much like several touchdowns. We saw Josh throw to Davis in earlier seasons. Quote

He looked like receivers who get open on a majority of teams. an exceedingly rare treat for the Bills! Edited 5 hours ago by RiotAct Quote

folz Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Not saying he'll become as good by any means, and I hadn't thought of it myself, but as soon as I read just the title of the thread, I instantly thought, oh yeah, I can totally see that comparison. Something about the way they run, move, catch. Good call OP. 45 minutes ago, Shaw66 said: I liked how he played the ball on the touchdown catch. It wasn't a perfect throw but he had his eyes on the ball all the way and got his hands in a really good catching position. It was nicely done. It's the kind of play of professional pass catcher makes. That was encouraging. Last week someone said his his blocking is always good. It was interesting that on Johnson's touchdown catch, he followed the play all the way down the field and got in the way of the last possible tackler. That was just solid at football, doing your job. And with coach saying, about Shavers, "No job too big or too small" for him...I wonder if that isn't a veiled reference as to why Keon is in the doghouse. 50 minutes ago, Kelly to Allen said: I've seen different reports of shavers running 4.3 & 4.5 I also saw he ran 10.41 in the 100 meters. The eye test tells me he's a legitimate deep threat Shavers did not attend the NFL Draft combine. So, there are only two official times for him for the 40-yard dash. At his pro day in college, he ran a 4.59. When he was recruited out of high school, his official time in the 40-yard dash was 4.38. Interesting that Stallworth had a similar situation with difference in timings. He was dealing with a hip pointer at the Combine and ran a 4.8 second 40-yard dash (in the rain). His only other known timing was by a Pittsburgh scout after his junior year of college, at which time Stallworth clocked a 4.5 second 40-yard dash. 1 Quote

Yeah there are A LOT of people impressed with the Bills WR's yesterday but that is probably the worst pass defense they will face this season. Secondary in disarray and no pass rush to help them. When Dean went down Tampa was f#cked. Quote

Maybe he finally got his dancing partner Shavers ran a wind aided 4.38 in high school Was in the 4.5s pro day.. he does have good long speed He is very similar to Gabe Davis in a lot of ways with perhaps better hands, although Davis has made some spectacular sideline catches during his times here. HappyDays Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 5 hours ago, TheBrownBear said: I noticed he ran a slick little route against Miami last week too on the end zone interception. It was just a bad ball by Allen. That was a terrible route. Allen was waiting for him to get open along the backline but he got bullied all through the route and took way too long to get to his spot. Against cover 0 he needed to win and flash open within 2.5 seconds. Let's not get too carried away about the WR room from one game. Tampa called a lot of cover 3 and Brady had the right calls in to beat them. I put this week's turnaround on his improvement much more than the WRs. Shavers' biggest completion (other than the 1 of a 1 throw on a scramble drill) came on seemingly a busted coverage. Samuel still has trouble reading the field and making route adjustments in real time. Hardman is too tiny to be a legit downfield threat. Palmer and Kincaid should be our top 2 targets, the rest of these guys are JAGs. 1 Quote

I was reading unconfirmed stuff online that he's a 10.4 100 meter guy also ... Looked good. If Allen went to him and threw a good ball thats definitely a big play. He had a step. I dunno I trust it with the wind gusts. I dunno about the guy a couple posts above you saying he is not fast. He may not be Tyreek Hill but the dude is pretty fast. Richard Noggin Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It's fine to make height/weight/traits-based comps, and some athletes do just resemble one another in appearance and just how they move...but wowza. The internet gives us all an immediate audience for our thoughts, doesn't it? (No disrespect intended to OP.) 1 Quote

It's probably disrespectful to Stallworth honestly. I just think there's something special with Shavers. Probably not the best way to say it lol I'm really excited about him tho. Looking back it's probably honestly a silly post by me. Overreacting to the passing game looking awesome 😎 Edited 1 hour ago by Kelly to Allen 1 Quote

He's not fast, though I suppose it's not a terrible time for a bigger-bodied guy (6'4", 211 lbs). Keon's a bit quicker but neither of these guys runs like a deer...
