Jet flying over Highmark Stadium

During the game today, a private jet flew directly over the stadium.  Are there any pilots that can tell me if that was legal or not. I thought the FAA had rules against that.

Maybe air photos of the stadium and/or game?  They probably are making a lot of production for the final season.

I would think that drones are used for this kind of photography/video nowadays.

I live in South Cheektowaga. Usually I hear the copters, etch their way to the stadium. Nothing yesterday.

I thought it was illegal to throw barrels over the Falls as well - what gives ?

The FAA issues a "TFR," temporary flight restriction, that prohibits unapproved flights from flying less than 3000' above, within a three mile radius for a period of one hour before until one hour the event for any stadium with a capacity of 30,000 seats or greater.

Certain flights are allowed, like air ambulances or individually approved, which won't be for general aviation ops.

There is an exemption for balsa wood “jets” who use a rubber band to get the propeller turning.

Saw the jet and had the same conversation with my brother. It didn’t appear to be directly over the stadium… and it may be a bit of an optical illusion in terms of how close it seemed.
