Benford is concerning. He was limited with a groin injury yesterday and McDermott hadn't brought him up before practice, so that makes you think he got injured during practice. Now DNP today.

Haha we are going to finish this season with practice squad defense.

Remember when we were discussing who will be cut to make roster spot for Hoecht and Larry O?

Fun times

Not that I'm happy to see Benford likely miss this game, but the upside is that we'll probably see Hairston in a full time role. I'm excited to see what that looks like. It's been a while since a Bills rookie has been a legit difference maker. Beane may have found 2-3 from this class.

Personally I'd like to continue to ease him into full-time role. He did miss most of the camp, pre-season games.

Also Cam Lewis graded out very well against KC playing in both nickel and dime roles flipping between NCB & safety.

It looks like defensive end and cornerback could be the trouble spots on Sunday.  At linebacker Thompson is hobbled, but both Milano and Bernard should be good to go.  If Taron Johnson can go, then Lewis can help back up the safeties, (Poyer and Bishop) along with Jordan Hancock.  Phidarian Mathis will probably need to help out again at DT, but there are enough guys to maintain a rotation.  With Hoecht gone for the season and Epenesa in concussion protocol, the Bills are still going to want to manage Bosa's reps.  That means Solomon is going to have to play a major role, and the Bills may have to either activate Landon Jackson or elevate Andre Jones/Kingsley Jonathon from the PS.  If Benford can't go at CB, then the Bills will be starting White and Hairston on the outside with Ingram getting backup reps.  I wouldn't be surprised if they elevate Dane Jackson or possibly Te'Cory Couch.  Fortunately, Tyreek Hill is out for the time being.

Why is it that every year our defense lets us down as the season goes on and the offense eventually can't overcome the failures?  Is it scheme or personnel?

It’s pessimism…team gets overwhelmed by the end of the season

The Steelers on the road present a huge challenge as well...

I'm not so sure they do.  They have one of the worst defenses in the NFL giving up almost 400 yards a game. Sure, they can make Daniel Jones look like trash by taking his first read away. Not going to work so well against Allen. Plus they are susceptible to be run on.

Depth has been an issue imo…becomes more glaring as the season goes on cuz you’re gonna lose some guys for the season

Stuff like benford going down and getting replaced by Elam just can’t happen.  Can’t have depth everywhere but cb is not the one I woulda messed with 😂 Depth this year feels better but hopefully Ed at least can come back for the playoffs

when you’re in a cap pickle really gotta hit on a lot of picks to have decent depth.  It’s feelin like we had a solid draft and players from previous classes have turned the corner a bit too

Actually I'm just as worried about the @Houston game the week before.

They are NFL teams and thus present a formidable opposition.

If you two don't believe that the Bills have the advantage over these two teams.................  I don't know what to say.

All that being said, this thread is about this week's game against Miami.

I believe the Buffalo Bills have a good chance of winning this game.
