Can you also convince the salary cap?

I’m a bills fan with PTSD. I have to play mind games with myself. Who is Diggs? Just some diva that the Vikings traded to the Patriots

He brought so much juice to the defense.  This is devastating

I see what you did there.

It feels like karma in a way

He took PEDs and maybe that, or missing time due to suspension, tilted the odds in favor of a ruptured achilles.

Yep.

My AI friend confirms. As do JJ Watt, Shawne Merriman, and lots of other real life examples.

Yes, athletes using performance-enhancing drugs, particularly anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS), are significantly more likely to suffer Achilles tendon injuries and ruptures.

Anabolic steroids contribute to this increased risk through several mechanisms:

Biomechanical Mismatch: Anabolic steroids induce rapid muscle hypertrophy and increased strength, but the tendons and ligaments do not adapt or strengthen at the same rate. This creates a dangerous mismatch where the powerful muscles place supraphysiological loads on relatively weaker, less resilient tendons, predisposing them to injury or rupture.

Weakened Tendon Structure: AAS use disrupts the normal synthesis and cross-linking of collagen, the primary structural component of tendons. Studies in animals have shown that steroids can lead to collagen fiber dysplasia (abnormal formation) and decreased tensile strength and elasticity.

Impaired Repair: AAS can inhibit the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), enzymes crucial for the normal remodeling and repair of tendon tissue. This impaired healing capacity can lead to pre-existing degenerative changes in the tendon that make it more susceptible to acute rupture during intense physical activity.

Unfortunately his career will probably never be the same afterwards, has there been a dominant player in the NFL other than RB Adrian Peterson to come back from an achilles tear or better yet on defense?

Dan Marino and Terrell suggs both played well after

Yeah Suggs is a good one, he had 54 sacks after he tore his but only 1 guy after an injury like that doesn't seem promising but here's to hope.

Well to be fair you just said could you name any names

I didn't say his chances are promising lol at least he does rely more on power than pure speed

He was a Rams cast off that was abusing PEDs

These hot takes treating this guy like he's an elite player are so incredibly dumb that I am embarrassed to even have to call posters like you out on it

Do better

Have you seen the other players on the Bills defense? He was elite in comparison

Losing Hoecht for the year on its own doesn't bother me too much. But having it happen immediately after losing Oliver for the year is a gut punch. We just lost all of our interior pass rush ability in the span of two weeks. The only saving grace is that it happened right before the trade deadline. Adding an interior pass rusher just became an absolute necessity. There are a few good options out there that could be had for probably a day three pick.

Please let it be Calais Campbell.   Checks all the boxes and can play DE as well should Oliver and Sanders somehow make it back in the rotation in a playoff scenario.

I don't think Campbell would slot in as anything other than a three technique and occasional one technique defensive tackle here

I don't think he could line up at seven technique anymore .. he's like 310 lb

Now in an under alignment he could play the big end

He could definitely help our interior though

White gets paid, tears acl then achilles.

Miller gets paid tears acl.

Milano gets paid always injured

Oliver gets paid, always injured.

Hoecht, suspension and acl tear.

Can this team have a difference maker on defense actually play a full season?

Yeah you don't want to rotate him in at DE unless you have to...........but remember that Solomon and Jackson are the options if something happens to Bosa or Epenesa.

The current issue is on the interior though and he has been a tremendous pass rusher and penetrator the past 2 seasons.   A guy like Harrison Phillips could easily be an inactive in a situation where Oliver, Walker, Jones, Sanders and J Phillips are all available.   Campbell would probably slot no worse than 3rd in the group of 5.   Might be useful in Walker's development as well.

What he would bring that I would be excited about is availability

He has 18 years of consistently showing up to play

he has like 12 missed games in 18 years hahah

Age and speed are big factors for recovery... Achilles are low blood tendons so guys who have had them learn proper stretching and strengthening.... PS I had two partials luckily and coming back is more about confidence of being able to go full bore... Look at Jack Quinn of the Sabres. He did tore his training over the summer, his basically taking him a year and a half to be fully confident, but his speed is back.
