Yeah - stupid like Andy Reid using 5 of 6 timeouts on defense. Worst coach in the league. You would think by now Andy would know to save those time outs for offense. 🤦♂️ Quote

I don’t want to get carried away as we’ve seen this in the regular season against the Chiefs before. It’s just nice to see the Bills looking like the Bills since the bye. The Bills have gotten faster and more athletic with the development of Bishop & Kincaid & the insertion of Hancock & Hairston. Speed kills and until recently the Bills have lacked it on both sides of the ball. Now the defense has the speed to keep up. The Bills once again look like contenders. The bye came at the perfect time. Putting all of the past Kansas City drama aside, it was a great win for the standings. I feel like Buffalo secured their postseason hopes. 6-2 is so much better than 5-3. We really need the Patriots to drop a couple, but I’m not so sure anymore. Their schedule is a joke. 2 Quote
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Cole Bishop had 3 passes defended in his first 23 games leading up to yesterday. He had 4 yesterday. I'm fascinated to see if this is going to be a one game blip or if the switch has gone off in his head. Edited 7 hours ago by SageAgainstTheMachine 7 Quote

Saratoga Fan Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Many people on this board know a hell of a lot more about football intricacies than I do. I have a question. Losing Hoecht is huge. He is a tremendous athlete for a big guy and creates a mismatch rushing the passer from the inside. I have read Epenesa is also a freakish athlete. Could he attempt to fill Hoecht's role on obvious passing downs? That would put our 3 best pass rushers on the field in key situations. 1 Quote
EmotionallyUnstable Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago No Palmer No Jones No Johnson No Thompson Obviously without Oliver and a half without Hoecht. People ragging on McDermott are insane considering Phidarian Mathis and Cam Lewis were regular contributors for us this week. For all the chatter about how Reid is a better coach than McDermott, Sean deserves his props in this one. The Bills staff was superior on both sides of the ball. 4 1 4 Quote

Agree and you sure won't hear that from Nantz and Romo. Seemed like all they could talk about last night was how smart the Chiefs coaching staff is...blah blah blah Quote

What makes Hoecht so disruptive is his explosiveness and tenacity as he rushes from the interior. He is often walking guards backwards and collapsing the pocket from the inside. I don’t think AJ has that same burst to him, but he does have the length and size that would match what they had with Hoecht. The most likely change will be returning to using Solomon in the NASCAR package, like they did for the first six weeks of the season. I think the interior rush stuff from Hoecht is great, but also was his play at DE. And although Solomon could be the guy to come in to do that on clear passing downs, he will not give them the same presence as a rotation DE on the edge that Hoecht was providing. Quote

Gregg Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago With deadline coming up I am curious to see what moves Beane will make. DL and WR are obvious after the injury to Hoecht yesterday. Great win against a quality opponent. Quote

I've been in the front row criticizing McDermott and especially Brady, but both did well yesterday, especially McDermott, who put on a master class. Brady.... I'm guess I'm glad the clouds finally parted and a beam of light descended from heaven, inspiring him to keep Cook on the field when it mattered most and even--yes, you read it here--throw the ball to him on third down. True, he was the last person in the NFL football community, my aged aunt in Lackawana included, who realized he should use one of his only two weapons on offense in crunch time, but let's give him credit for finally getting there. Of course, on the next third down, he benched Cook again, so maybe we shouldn't give him too much credit. But all props to McDermott. 6 hours ago, HappyDays said: The Chiefs were 10-0 in one score games last year. This year they're 0-4. Analytics nerds rejoice. Regression to the mean. The sooner McD is fired, the better the odds of actually winning in the playoffs. Today was a PATHETIC example of how bad the coaching really is, over half the timeouts WASTED ON D, only to get lit up the insuring play, 4th and 17 and a team feels it’s worth going for bc they know how pathetic the D really is, etc. JA better be the second coming of Jesus himself if they are ever going to overcome this false prophet, McBeane. It’s pathetic. The D played well yesterday. Sure, the Chiefs made some plays including the 4th and 17th, but the Bills stopped them twice once on 4th down and one at the end of the half to force a FG when it looked like they would get a TD. They gave up only 21 points. Realistically they couldn't have done any better. The Chiefs were always going to make some plays and score some points. But it wasn't enough for them. The Bills hit Mahomes all day long. Give credit to the Bills. This was a 60-minute effort and both sides of the ball played well. Edited 5 hours ago by Gregg 2 2 Quote

Fan in Chicago Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) One aspect I haven't seen discussed much is the use of no huddle at appropriate times. It was fantastic and something our O had been loathe to try except in scramble drill situations. We have had the required pieces to be successful at least since last year - experienced and savvy QB, versatile RB, good OL and TEs to block if necessary. We saw how it threw off the Chiefs and we could keep marching down the field. I don't want us to do it for long stretches but it should be used when the opposing D is on it's heels, looking tired or if we are looking for the killer TD. Making judicious use of the no huddle will also unsettle opposing DCs cos they won't know when it's coming. Edited 5 hours ago by Fan in Chicago 3 2 Quote
Gregg Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Looking at next week. The Bills could be back in 1st place. First up we have an early Sunday game with the Falcons and Colts. Hopefully the Falcons can give us some help and give the Colts loss #3 for conference seeding purposes. For the first time since they played at Buffalo the Pats are playing a good team and not a cupcake when they travel to Tampa. Hopefully the Bucs win here, and they will be favored to do so. Then we need the Bills to handle their business in Miami. If these outcomes happen the Bills will be 7-2 with the Pats and Colts at 7-3. Quote

Dropping them to 5 - 4 and third place in their division and at risk of missing playoffs seems surreal. They have loomed so large in our imagination for so long. They've defied the Super Bowl hangover syndrome for a long time. It's real, especially after victories. Very happy to see that they might finally be tired of the slog. Let's hope it's the beginning of a long slide into mediocrity. 2 Quote
