The O was a little more intact.  Kincaid & Palmer being out definitely hurt, but it shouldn't result in the # of punts we saw tonight.

I get what you're saying.  But we're still lacking, even healthy.

Adding those two to the offense (along with Samuel) means more options and fewer mistakes; hopefully enough to overcome Brady's penchant for repeatedly outsmarting himself.

Now, with ALL of that being said, I’m more worried about the culture than the roster right now.   Josh looks absolutely defeated.  These guys are starting to quit and lose faith.

I was at the saints game 7 rows up, after josh had that big run, he looked at the bills sideline and screamed "let's ***** go" but I noticed it wasn't his normal celebration yell, it was more of an angry "do something" yell at his team. I cant remember josh doing that before, it made me wonder how he feels about his team so far this year.

All I’m saying is that we don’t know if Hairston or Strong would have been good enough to start.

I said we are missing half of our Top 4 CBs.

I don't know why you keep wanting to argue about who should be starting at DT or CB or insisting that a healthy Samuel wouldn't be in the Top 4. 🤷‍♂️

30 penalties over the last three games..really disturbing and disgusting

Both of their top 2 draft picks

They are literally going to be adding 7-8 key players to this team over the next few weeks.

If they're still look like this by Thanksgiving, then there will be reason to start considering they're not for real.

Until then, a bye and a game with Carolina couldn't have come at a better time.

I see you’re a roster is half full kind of guy. I like it

I would argue Walker is now the starter with Oliver now, with Jones and Sanders as backups.

Coleman was meant to be Palmer is a third if their starters, as it’s just him, Shakir, and Coleman.  Samuel is a rotation piece.

We have no idea if Hairston was going to start.  Strong was a long shot, and only was seeing action because Hairston got hurt and Tre is slow.

I’ll give you the LBs, but when are they ever healthy?   Relying on them is a sin.

If your draft picks get hurt, while unfair, that tends to fall on the GM.  And none of his top two picks from the last two years are doing anything.

Now, with ALL of that being said, I’m more worried about the culture than the roster right now.   Josh looks absolutely defeated.  These guys are starting to quit and lose faith.   We’ve seen way more injured teams play harder than this.

I think McD and Beane might be at a crossroads, even when we get players back.  But you also assume no one else will get injured, or injured again.

They look fat and happy, not humble and hungry.

Like they accomplished what they could and got paid and are content - meanwhile they’re the hunted and are getting everyone’s best effort.

The guys were hoping to get back aren’t exactly Cee Dee Lamb or Jalen Carter.

This D won’t be getting better this year.

The offense can.  But it has to luck into a WR trade.  And just like last year, we’re going to need to score 30 plus a game.

DJ Moore is probably no longer available as the Bears are in the race.  Shaheed?  Olave?  Both.

James Cook is the O and D's best friend IMO. Lean on Cook more in the run and passing game and Buffalo's woes on Offense all go away. I agree with Simon. This seems to happen every season.

The Buffalo Bills will get healthier, regroup and be a better football team after a little break in the action.

It’s funny how you call out these “key” players who haven’t shown they can play in the NFL or the injuries to guys that got banged up well after the suck started (which has actually been most of the year).

I mean, we are supposed to get excited for what Jones, Sanders, Samuel, Palmer, Hairston, Strong, Milano, Bernard, etc…. All of these guys either

A) haven’t shown they can play in this league

B) haven’t shown they can stay healthy

C) both

I'll play

Ogunjobi is a JAG. Won't make a difference. Sanders wasn't anything special from what we saw in live action either.

Palmer and Samuel are again not difference makers. One is often injured, and the other couldn't Crack the Chargers starting lineup last season and they let him walk.

I'll concede the corners because they probably are better and help to a degree...especially with the speed of Hairston

Milano can't be counted on to stay on the field at this point, and Bernard hasn't been a world beater.

Kincaid is a big loss

Reality is that they might add 2 or 3 key guys over the next few weeks which doesn't exactly get me pumped for a magical transformation with this roster

They are lost on both sides of the ball and Josh is showing signs of defeat along with frustration/disappointment

There's no magic elixir here.

I don’t think it’s so much undisciplined play, a lot of it is just a lack of talent and athleticism

How long until the question becomes about Brady being on the sidelines?

Coaches should be on the sidelines coaching IMO.

Communication is much better for the QB and some of the key players on O IMO.  Easier making adjustments on the fly.

That's unlikely to change. Sanders just had Knee surgery and McDermott said Jones "popped his calf" and he was in a walking boot. I don't think that's something that's just gonna take 2 weeks. I'd like to be wrong though.

We'll get Ogunjobi for Week 8, which should hopefully be better than Jordan Phillips in replacing Sanders.

Hopefully Palmer can recover in a couple weeks. But he was still limping post game. It's encouraging that he was walking around and didn't go to the Locker Room bc it looked *bad*. Samuel, just.... ugh. I assume he'll be back, but Dear Lord has the injury bug been ridiculous with him.

They really need to be on the phone with the Saints. The fact that we have no WR's that can win their battles with any remote amount of consistency is as big of a problem as our Defense.

And does anyone know how far along Gabe Davis is? Like it sounds insane to want Gabe Davis, but I'd take Davis and one of the Saints WR's over Shavers and Moore every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Much like DT, this isn't changing either. Dorian Strong is on IR with a Neck Injury, he may be done for the year.

And I knew that it was unlikely that we'd see Hairston until Week 8. But since they haven't even opened his Practice window yet and they aren't going to throw him into the fire the first week he's activated - we aren't going to see him for a while. McDermott still hasn't ruled out not seeing him at all.

Milano, Milano, Milano. Another ugh like Samuel. Who knows when we'll get him back and how long we'll have him when we do. The Pec kept him out multiple weeks and then he almost immediately re-injured it. Now he's in the dreaded "week to week" category. I wouldn't put him out until it's fully healed at this point.

Bernard is hopefully a low ankle sprain. Fingers crossed that he comes back after the Bye. Not that I think he's playing great.

Man, was he missed tonight. The entire passing game runs through Shakir and Kincaid. He's the only guy who could get open with any sort of consistency last week and this week, no one did.

Here's hoping we get him back and again, make a move with New Orleans for either of their guys. Otherwise, offensively, we're in big trouble.

Well for Week 8, we'll definitely get Hoecht and Ogunjobi. Likely Kincaid and Samuel (not that he matters). Hopefully Bernard and maybe Palmer, but neither are a guarantee.

But unless you're counting hypothetical additions to the team, I don't see 7-8 key players being added to this team in 2 weeks when we play our next game.

It's important we try and make some moves at WR, CB, Safety, or LB. This team needs more help than what we may or may not have coming back after the Bye.

in retrospect I think an answer to the OP what the Bills are missing right now is a combination of things

1. Health  as in  not being able to field a team of the Best players on the roster at  one time. I mean total healthy roster has to be rare. all teams use backups due to injuries

2. @GolfandBills mentioned athleticism and Talent being lacking with penalties not being related to a lack of discipline as I thought

I never thought about that until he said it.

I'm at a disadvantage because of never having played team sports. I was on the swim team in high school lol

I don't know what the consensus is as to how to eliminate the absurd amount of calls the Bills are getting. And it reads at least here that at least some of the calls are Bogus to begin with

the bottom line is they cannot continue to beat themselves with penalties as has been happening

Enough already!

/vent

how does a team rectify that? serious question. Thanks. m
