The original Chicago pizza. Better than greasy New York. Cracker crust... BUT I still voted for doughy BFLo. It isn't bad. I'd rank top 3 FastFood pizza as: 1. Domino's 2. PizzaSlut 3. LittleSqueezer's That's only the more recent deep dish. Original Chicago pizza is thin crust. My family has been making pizza for a long time and honestly Chicago tavern style is found all over the Midwest it's not a unique style like the deep dish That tavern style is found everywhere from Chicago to Ohio and Wisconsin parts of Pennsylvania it's really not distinct to Chicago if I'm being honest Your deep dish is 100% distinct going back even 80 years 1 Quote
Just Jack Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago It really depends on my mood, but most of the time I'd say NYC or WNY style. Quote
boater Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Yuck, who goes for that NYC thin slice? If I wanted sauce, cheese, and pepperoni on a glorified tortilla..I'd order NYC pizza. Chicago deep dish, iIf I wanted a casserole on top of dough..that's what I would order. Detroit pizza and Buffalo pizza are interchangeable, they are similar to each other. The only way to roll. The best pizza I’ve ever had I made myself…..in a cooking class in Rome (Italy, not NY). They let you know it’s not a Naples style pizza, it’s different. And it was amazing! I have a pic of my wife with an entire pie in front of her, then a pic of her taking the last bite. It was so light it never filled you up. Don’t even get me started on the gelato! 1 Quote
Process Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Just ordered a 6 pack of pies shipped from Giordanos, thanks for the inspiration. It's been years since the last time I had them shipped, but I remember being surprised at how good they came out at home. Quote

Beggars: Lou Malnati's: Edwardo's Natural: Beggars makes a good tavern style thin: Official WhiteSox pizza... Beggars uses corn meal under the crust... I love Malnati's! Next time im in Chitown I'll have to try Beggars for tavern style. Any other good tavern style recommendations? 1 Quote

It could mean Malnatis style, it could mean Gino's/Uno's style which is deeper with a breadier dough, it could be chicago stuffed with 2 crusts and sauce on top, and then theres the Burt's and Pequods style which is more like your pan pizza but with the caramelized cheese crust. Decent amount of variation in my experience. 1 Quote
May Day 10 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Id say Buffalo style is my favorite... as long as everything is balanced correctly between dough, cheese, and sauce. New York is great and I would choose that. I just dont get filled up on it and feel like I can eat 100 pieces. Any local wood-fired pizza that is made thicker than NY is almost perfect. Quote
Mikie2times Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Buddy's from Detroit, if it needs to be a chain, Jets from Detroit/also in Ohio. But I certainly have love for the occasional Chicago or New York slice. I like making my own pizza as well. Quote

yall Posted 31 minutes ago Posted 31 minutes ago Don't get me wrong, even bad pizza is frequently good, but NYC style rules over Buffalo style without question. Quote
