It’s the ultimate “did you read the ***** lyrics or do you just think it and the title sound cool” song, like “Born in the USA.”

Agree, it's a weak-song. I get that the players have some connection to it but it's time to ***** can this abomination.

anthem? Songs about chicks cheating on you while you watch is the anthem? What?

Crabby old man, back in the day, rant - ON

Aside from the lyrics of the song being stupid and depressing, this anthem of a generation stuff is...something.  While it might actually fit this generation - I'll let others judge - playing it for a football game is crazy.

American Pie was an anthem for my generation.  It is by every metric a vastly superior song to Mr. Brightside.  We would gather with arms around each other and sing it in a circle on the dance floor.  It meant something to us in a way that was undefined and went far beyond the actual words of the song.  But we would have never played it to get ourselves psyched up in the 4th quarter of a football game!

And get your dog off my lawn.

What’s the Denver Broncos message board named?  I wanna go there to pitch “Rocky Mountain Way” as their 4th Q song. Bet they never thought of it!

And the Dolphins - I wanna pitch the theme from the show “Flipper” for their song. “Flipper, Flipper faster than lightning….”

Just wait until he reads some of the lyrics in Taylor Swift songs...

The life of ophelia... Which has nothing to do with the reality of Shakespeare? Or how she's white girl latte WAP singing?

Mr. Brightside has worked its way into the music rotation in Home Depot, Tops, Penney’s. I’m guessing that’s a good thing though. Depressing overtures are entrenched with this generation’s popular music. Makes me wanna shout!

Like Brightside, the replacement song should have:

1) 148 beats per minute tempo

2) a memorable instrumental opening riff to alert listeners

3) ability to be sung along to

4) notable popularity when the target demographic was 12-20 years old

5) fewer wounded male and cheating themes

I'm sure some AI assisted query gets you a few decent candidates.  Then you just get the PA guy/in-game media planner to find a player who likes the song so you can say the song choice was a spontaneous/organic thing.

New stadium. New song.

What we'll actually get:

1. Some Florida Georgia Line knockoff from the Nashville Factory of Country Pop.

2. Billy Joel.

3. More Mr. Brightside because the players like it and some accountant at the NFL knows its the unofficial anthem of the UK.

It's so unoriginal. I wish the Bills had their own thing that no other team had instead of something an other team does (Michigan).

Years ago I nominated "John the fisherman"
