Oh my god, your memory is bad. It’s easy to find bad losses. In 1992, the Bills lost at home to the Dolphins when Kelly threw 4 INTs. The next week they went out to LA and got killed by a horrible Raiders team. That took two seconds to find. We also lost to the Jets and Colts that year. All bad teams.

I feel like I remember those bills teams having a few unreasonably close games with an even worse pats team tbh haha I gotta go check myself

This is true.  But the operative word here is "Bills SB teams"  the current Bills are not yet a SB team.

I don't think any McD hater including myself is saying that, however, I strongly feel he should have been fired years ago, and every season with him is another year wasted in Josh's quest for a Super Bowl championship.  McD reached his peak several years ago, nothing but regression since with the exception of Josh carrying the team on his shoulders.  I would love to see McD replaced in the off-season with an offence focused coach who would let Josh be Josh and bury teams early instead of slow rolling things like McD does to protect his swiss cheese defences that absolutely suck in crunch time.

I really hope Allen gets to play with  a really good offensive head coach/ play caller while he is still in his prime!, whether it be with the Bills or another team it would really be something to see!!

Haha yea I had to scratch my head at that one too 😂. Pretty sure a bad pats team gave us trouble a few times

As said, the defense let through 23 points. That's not awful. Not great, yes, but not awful.

I don't think McDermott is trying to "protect his defense" so much as he has a certain philosophy that, if adhered to strictly, will usually result in a win. 

 

There's a lot of bad football being played every week. Anyone who watches games around the league sees that. So the strategy works most of the time.

 

Add in a talent like Allen and it works even more of the time.

 

But against an elite opponent, who doesn't throw the costly int and can stay disciplined enough all game to take the small stuff it often does not work.

The Bills had more yards, including rushing, more time of possession, more first downs, and more 3rd down conversions.  BUT, they also had more penalties and more turnovers.  That was the difference in the game.  They...with the help of Hoculi...lost the game.

 

Diggs was huge for them.  He was huge for the Bills when he played here...just not in the playoffs.

I will say this, I doubt the Pats win the rematch (or at least not in the same way). Doubt the reffing will be as wacky, and I'm going to guess the Bills will prevent Maye rolling out to his right.

He did NOT have Palmer for an easy 7-8 yards. I know what game you’re playing - it’s the “I see a player momentarily open while the QB is going trough his progressions, looking to the complete opposite side of the field”

 

When Allen reaches Palmer in his progressions, he is blanketed downfield.

I think so... But I also think there is a happy medium that they can't seem to figure out... There are ways to control the clock without doing dumb, risky things. And they do sometimes... But I feel like they have become so formula-matic on Offense and have moved way to far away from a controlled short and intermediate passing game that they are causing their own staling issues. When Diggs was here they would kill teams with the short and intermediate stuff and the chains were always moving. Now it's just too many runs and screens. Watch the rest of the NFL... There's almost always someone open... But the QB play is up and down... We have Josh... The Bills will go full games and not take advantage of obvious weakness in opponents Defenses and literally go right at their strengths... It's cool when it works... But it's risky, and I just don't think it's that smart tbh... But what do I know...

The lions did exactly what we just did in week 1.  Every team has a bad game, it’s just what happens.
