Hurts had zero second-half completions yesterday, and Philly still beat an undefeated team on the road.

I mean, two years ago Brock Purdy was right near the top of the odds w CMC and potentially could have won it, if he hadn’t laid that egg against the Ravens.  If Brock Purdy can get strong consideration for MVP, Jalen Hurts and his tush push make for a live bet too.

Did I say he was at the prospect level he was touted to be?  He’s helped that team grit our 3 wins.  Last year he would have folded his tent.  All I said was that at some point he will be on the MVP odds board.  He will probably be toward or at the bottom but he is playing better than some of the guys currently on it.

If you think KC is back in business, then Mahomes and Allen will probably be battling each other for the MVP. But the KC offense looked very discombobulated the first 3 weeks, and I'm not sure if the Ravens defense doesn't just suck now.

If Steelers stay healthy, I think Baltimore misses the playoffs. Bills, Chiefs, Chargers fighting for the Super Bowl spot. I have zero doubt the MVP race comes down to Mahomes and Allen, which will also be the AFC Championship again.

LJ should be nowhere near the same list or conversation as our man Allen.

An MVP rises to the occasion and LJ ain't it.

Because Josh has the best collective average of all of the above. You explained why he is in the front by thinking what you were asking is ground breaking and game changing. 

 

Context, hype, wins, stats, and MANY considerations (such as the ones you listed) and he has the best collective avg of all of them in the league. 

 

Don't misunderstand...  I think Josh deserves to be the MVP frontrunner.  I also think he should have won MVP before last year.  

If there were a stat that could truly evaluate how valuable a player is to his team, Josh would score high.  But there isn't - despite some claims from analytic sites that there is.  It's cool that the NFL has an MVP award but the process for picking a winner is inevitably flawed.

after a quarter of the season basically done now, Allen is the front runner and took a bigger lead over everyone after yesterday based on the betting odds. I can update it each week as the year goes on. Assuming Allen stays in it.

James Cook is listed in 6th place for offensive player of the year at +1,600

 

 

I find it hard to keep Lamar that high after a 1-3 start.  I get that its not all his fault, and his stats are strong as an individual.  But in all 3 losses, he has missed critical passes to wide open guys or failed to make plays that impacted the outcome of those games.  I would honestly put James Cook in the MVP race and above Lamar right now even though a RB has very slim shot at winning it over a QB on any given season.  But looking around the league, he is playing better and impacting his team more than many of the guys on the MVP list right now. 

 

Herbert is the reason the Chargers lost Sunday to a Giants team starting a rookie QB that also lost their best offensive weapon for the season.  I don't think he should be 2nd in the race right now.  They had a great opportunity to keep a 2 game lead on KC and blew it to a team they had no business losing too and in large part because of Herbert.

I admit I never caught on the MVP thing just like last year, the year before last year, and so on... Josh is likely to have the MVP cause in his contract, but I care much more on him winning a Superbowl MVP. Let's face it --- if the Bills are to win a superbowl, short of James Cook running for 200 yards and having 3 TDs, they will give it to Josh Allen.

He's not an MVP candidate. Or at least he shouldn't be. He is nowhere near that kind of player

For the third and final time, all I said is that he will make an appearance on the odds board at some point during the season.  
 

Is Matthew Stafford truly an MVP contender?  He is on the board at the start of this thread.

He’s playing great football this year and if he didn’t have a hurt throwing arm I think they win last week but the dude when healthy is amazing with 2 minutes left and the game on the line. I may be in the minority but he’s a top 6 QB in this league

The Jags throttled the 49ers all day yesterday.  By far the better team.  Maybe the 49ers just stink.  That’s possible I suppose but I don’t think that’s why.

The panthers “throttled” the falcons last week and got destroyed by the patriots this week. The Jags may be better coached this year but I need to see it for a full season from Lawrence. He’s all hype imo and after 4 years, the luster of being the next can’t miss prospect has wore off. He’s way too inconsistent
