GASabresIUFan Posted September 8 Posted September 8 (edited) I said this during the draft that Hawes has better hands than people give him credit for. He had a huge game against UGA and current Ravens rookie starter Starks for GA Tech and was someone I drafted in every mock draft I did as an upgrade replacement for Morris. My guess is Beane envisions him as Knox’s eventual replacement. Edited September 8 by GASabresIUFan 1 1 Quote

Teams also don't show every single personnel grouping every game The Ravens are already a big physical front maybe they figured six offensive line wasn't as big as an advantage as it would another team 1 1 Quote
PoundingDog Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Scouting report says he lacks separation skills against man and general routing running ability. Let's see how he develops. Remembers Knox was not much of a pass catcher coming into NFL, even Kelce was not considered explosive enough to create great separation with his breaks out of college. Look at where Kelce is now, especially against zone he always finds the right open spot 1 Quote

He is also listed as the first backup for both guard spots and center, so maybe they want to reduce the wear on him. But a TE like Hawes makes more sense. I kept waiting on Anderson to catch a wide open TD last year, but it never happened. Using a TE will keep the defense more honest than Anderson, and Hawes seems to just as good at blocking. 1 1 Quote

We also won't have to worry about the multiple problems Anderson had with reporting properly last year. 1 1 Quote
BillsDad51 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 (edited) Wonder if we'll see more of Anderson vs. Jets. He and Will McDonald IV had a couple of skirmishes during last Jets game. Edited September 8 by BillsDad51 Clarify 1 Quote

It wasnt even all of last year. He saved all his brain farts for the KC playoff game, since thats when it's best to just completely melt down. 1 Quote
somnus00 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Quinton Morris was TE3 for a few seasons. Seemed like every year, he would have 4 catches total. But each was always a big clutch play. Here's to Hawes continuing the tradition. 2 Quote

I thought I remembered him doing it a few times before that game, but also in the latter part of the season, which made zero sense whatsoever. I mean how do you go 3-4 months with minimal problems and then suddenly start pissing yourself in the middle of routine play calls? 1 Quote

Don't no need no stinking tush push Speaking of Anderson...did we even run a single play with him in as the 6th OLineman yesterday? I don't remember them saying anything about him coming into the game and declaring himself like they normally do. Quote

I have to admit that I enjoyed hearing that #70 is reporting as eligible. That always meant that the beef was coming. But having he and Hawes to choose from is a nice wrinkle for the offense. 1 Quote

He runs over dudes out there. Something I just don’t see from the other TE’s and WR’s consistently I have to have a hard disagree with this one. I love the physicality Shakir brings after the catch. He even had a nice run up the middle. Quote
dollars 2 donuts Posted September 8 Posted September 8 A buddy of mine and I were talking after church yesterday. We were buzzing on the idea of having Kincaid, Knox and Hawes on the field, all at once. ...low and behold. I want more. 1 Quote

Shakir isn't a bruiser in my opinion, he's physical in some ways but he's not a guy that is going to bowl over bigger players either. Quote

Pound for pound I think he’s just as physical as any skill player we’ve got. His RAC is always near the top and they trusted him to run up the gut for a crucial 3rd down conversion.
