It's his first ever game as a head coach and he just led an offense with a bottom tier QB to more points than his previous team scored in their week 1 matchup.

Are you giving Caleb credit for 7 points from the pick-6 thrown by McCarthy?

Yeah fair enough you got me there. Still more points even with that taken off the board though.

You really think Williams is a goner by year 3 as a starter?

If it continues the way it did yesterday, yeah I do. Ben Johnson isn't tethered to him and he isn't going to waste his head coaching opportunity on a QB he didn't pick and doesn't believe in. Williams has time to prove me wrong but as of now I see way too many flaws that haven't gotten any better since week 1 last year.

I am biased since I follow Michigan football, but McCarthy is a baller. He is going to be a very solid QB for them.

Agree and I'm an Ohio State fan.  IMO McCarthy outplayed Williams last night.  And if I'm a Vikings fan I love how he bounced back from a very bad pick 6.  This was a demonstration of an all important intangible for an NFL QB.

He's got some real issues to work on but he's one of those guys I feel like you can't help but root for. Feel like last night's game showed pretty much all the pros and cons that I saw when I scouted him at Michigan.

the thing about McCarthy that I can’t quite figure out yet is his ceiling. I could

be wrong, but he strikes me as a very high floor but not necessarily high ceiling guy. But he is really a great guy to root for and a born leader.

I couldn't understand in real time, that midway through 2nd Qtr, leading 7-3, the Bears went for the 4th and 3 from Minnesota 24 yard line.   They didn't get it, not even close.  And of course the Bears end up losing by 3.

It's coaching malpractice for a struggling Chicago Bears organization to not kick a routine 41 yarder and add to your lead, instead of puffing your chest out and going for the risky fourth down.  Coaches are so dumb sometimes.  In that situation, still first half, it was so unnecessary to pass up the points.
