He isn't really a safety. He is a hybrid. Decent run player, good instincts, liability in coverage.

A hybrid safety. What McDermott is always searching for.

He’s a no brainer upgrade over Hamlin

McDermott is searching for safeties who can play deep or in the box. Peppers is more your box safety / extra linebacker. Or your "big nickel" if you want to use that parlance.

I think the Bills could find a use for him but to be honest box safety play isn't really my concern for Buffalo. I'm worried about us in center field coverage situations.

I think he's a bit overrated.  He'll be a good culture guy there, but as a coach, I think he's kind of middlin'.  He benefitted greatly when the Titans had those good years from having excellent coordinators, and Tannehill playing the best football of his life.

Yup. He will be better than Mayo was for sure. Vrabel is a good coach, but I don’t think he’s some genius that’s gonna revolutionize the league. In Tennessee, he handed the ball to Derek Henry 400 times a year

As we get ready to play the ravens a big nickel cuts down on wear and tear on johnson

I'm for signing him because he is better talent that is at the bottom of our roster. Talent that we can find a way to play. He's maybe the only safety i would consider of them all since the end of the season i would want because he would be cheap.

A 1 yr prove it and show up deal on this defense would be good for him. McDermott is good with DB's. He can fill in to play 3rd LB, big nickel, or straight up safety.

If we talked to him and said he has to play at least punt team or some special team and he agrees....sign him.

Maybe. I have never been a big Peppers guy tbh. Going back to college I thought he was significantly overrated. I'm fine if they bring him in. I don't hate it. But it isn't something I'd personally advocate for. I'd still rather give Justin Simmons a ring (I know that isn't happening).

The odds of McD trusting him out there in a hybrid box role at this point in the offseason - this would be one of those misfit signings that probably never gets integrated into the lineup here.  He’s not plug-and-play at this coach is slow to trust.

Woah dude. Out of sight out of mind. What is simmons waiting on? Is it him or everyone else?

Forgot he's out there. Sure, i would like him but I think he's less realistic.

The thing with Peppers I'm comfortable with is that he has missed time like all of our safeties. So, we have a veteran who can bring the wood when needed like Rapp if we did sign him. He's overrated, sure, I would agree.

I'd still sign him given the right opportunity for price.

Agree. When we signed Milloy we just put him back there and told him to ball. He did, too. He washed out quickly but he did ball.

I agree that CF is more of a concern. Both Bishop and Rapp are better box safeties.

I also agree that Peppers is a better box safety but he’s still an improvement over Hamlin.

McDermott and Beane have shown they aren’t focused on finding that CF anyways with the drafting of Bishop.

Peppers is the style of S they have recently prioritized

I think he would be a very good 3rd Safety.  Could return if needed.  Better as a box player but athletic enough to play center field.  Comes down to money and fit.  I see it as a big improvement over Hamlin. Possible sub package player as well.  I like him more than Dugger.

No one can convince me that Peppers wouldn't help this roster.

Give him Codrington's roster spot. Let him be your punt returner while he learns the defense.

Our defensive staff would find a way to make good use of his defensive versatility. As a third safety or dime backer in certain coverages, he'd be useful.
