Lewis Cine a Safety that the Eagles poached off our PS last season has been released. He was a 1st round choice of the Vikings in 2022 out of Georgia.

.

If you're looking for safety help, we actually transitioned him to LB

Not exactly. Cline was waived with an injury designation. He was on crutches after their last preseason game. He will revert to the Iggles IR if unclaimed. That means any team that successfully claims him has to put him on their initial 53. He could then be moved to IR if his injury warrants that - and later activated from it if desired. He's only making $1M this season so it isn’t a lot of cap space, but it’s his only season under contract. Not sure why any team would want to burn $1M in cap on an injured player who gets injured a lot though.

Thanks, I just saw his name, was unaware he was injured.

No problem. Lotta sources leaving his injury out of the headline. Guessing that is to encourage clicks.

So does the waiver period start as soon as these players are released or does it only start for everyone 4:00 on Tuesday?  And ends noon on Wednesday is it??

After the cutdown deadline on Tuesday, teams have until Wednesday at noon ET to claim players who were waived.

What’s the latest with Shaq Thompson? Haven’t heard much about him in the last couple of weeks.

Been injured for weeks. Still a good shout to make the roster as seemed to be playing well before then. Unless Ciarlo is taking his spot!!

Saw an article that said Shaq's finally participating in team drills. Ciarlo is taller, younger. With little prep for Thompson, I wish they'd give Ciarlo a chance to see what he can do. Start Shaq on PUP.

Interesting article about how trading down for Cine, instead of taking Kyle Hamilton, lead to a horrendous 2022 draft for the Vikings.   Yet they still have a very good roster top to bottom.  They've been excellent in FA signings the last couple years.

I agree. I like Buechele, but I don't think he can handle a starting Defense.

He also looked slow as molasses vs TB. I looked up his 40 time, and he ran 4.95 at his pro day- which is slower than Spencer Brown ran.

Do you recall Tom Brady's 40 time?  To refresh your memory, it was 5.28.  H e was actually faster when he was 46 years old - 5.18.  There's hope for me yet.  I might still do the 40 in 20 seconds before I die.

Would be better for the fans if they brought back the weekly cutdown requirements like the good old days. Preseason has become unbearable with nothing real to talk about from late July to early September.

I don’t understand why the Players Association wanted this.  Instead of having it staggered so players cut early could hook up with another team during preseason, you have 1200+ players cut at once.

When he's healthy, if he doesn't stick on The Eagles Practice Squad, I would be surprised if they didn't bring back Lewis Cine - given his time with us and our Safety situation.

He has been cut by the Eagles.   Yes, Buffalo tried him at safety.  They still might look at him at both positions.  He's had another year to work on his shortcomings.  I would think the Bills would at least be curious.  You can't teach that kind of athleticism.   Oops, just saw the posts on his injury situation.  Still, the price isn't that high if they want to sign him and then put him on IR after the initial 53 man roster is established

For teams a single cut down date is easier with the reduction of preseason games to 3. The NFLPA is a lot more concerned with the health and well being of their rank and file than they are the UDFAs that don’t make a roster or hang on the fringe for a season or two.
