1-800-Rasul?

Id probably try Gilmour first since I think Rasul’s knee is completely shot. Great guy and mentor; was a solid player but his style of ply relies on his ability to jump routes at will and we saw last year he just can’t anymore. His brain is there but his body can’t quite follow.

I think some are in for a rude awakening this season. Allen is gonna have to put up 40 points a game for us to win most weeks.

Wow, I didn’t realize Tre was THAT important to the defense

I think your overreacting if you think a washed Tre White - no matter how much we like him - was the bulwark of success for this team. He was a free agent for a reason…and likely Buffalo was his only landing spot.

Drafting a cb in R1….not a legitimate move?

I actually do no feel White was meant to be the starter. A mentor.

He played above the hopes most likely.

And others played a bit below.

Hope he is healthy and is on the Team this year in some form.

No idea where that's coming from. The Chicago preseason game?

They invested heavily in the D this offseason.  I think this could be one of our strongest D's in awhile.

if thats the case, Bobby B should be fired a few weeks into the season. They invested heavily in the defensive, it's time to see a lot of progress from last year

They invested mostly in guys that are highly injury prone or are suspended for half the season.

Also, I'll never trust a McD-coached defense to show up in the playoffs. He couldn't stop the Chiefs with 13 seconds when he had his best defense.

Don't we hear some version of this gibberish each year? So you're setting the line at the defense giving up on average 39.5 points a game over the course of the season? I'll take the under in any amount you wish to make it.

You’re not wrong.  Defense was always going to be a problem even before the injuries.  This defensive “guru” of a head coach is wasting JA’s prime years

That would make the 2025 Bills the worst defense in NFL history by a lot. The current worst are the 1981 Baltimore Colts at 33.3ppg. In recent years, even the 0-16 2020 Lions gave up only 32.4ppg and they were historically awful.

Ok so to summarize the events of the day:

-Tre gets "carted off" except he walked part way and it doesn't sound serious.

-stark reminder that even if White heals up and starts week one, CB2 is shaky until one of the young guys steps up and solidifies it.

-something, something Asante Samuel and Rasual Douglas. whatever.

So what did you say before last season? And how did that turn out?

Chill brother, we haven't seen the starting defense more than 1-2 series this preseason.  Tre is hurt, Max is hurt... nothing official on Tre but Max will be back early in season.  Hoecht and Oji suspended, doesnt change the fact that we need Ed, Groot, Bosa and rooks to generate pressure and keep Milano/TB/Taron healthy.

Nothing about this screams "rude awakening" - your post screams panic, for the sake of worrying over preseason and a couple injuries.  I cant see how we can be any worse on 3rd down, than last season on defense.  and while I expect a regression on turnovers/redzone efficiency, if we can stay top 5 in both (after finishing top 1-2), we will be winning alot more than we lose.

Our defense definitely won’t be worse than last season so I don’t know what the hell you are talking about.

Dane jackson was ok for us in a few starts right? I guess he's next man up?

He had a 5-6 game stretch there where he was absolutely lights out.

I would have to play with the way back machine but I believe he had a fairly average targets per game but like a top (bottom?) 5 Passer Rating when targeted.

Ie. He wasn't being carried by a low number of targets that were unfairlyweighing his production.

I said the same thing I will say every season McDermott is coach - this team will never win the Super Bowl with him in charge.
