I couldn't agree more.

I think it has to do with the stain left by the Bears game... a stain on the entire roster from top to bottom... not just Buffalo Joe.

I have a feeling he's gonna be a good pro linebacker.

I agree. The Bears game tainted these guys. Our starters have had bad games from the Kelly era to Josh’s era. Never have I seen such backlash from the fans.

Andreessen will have a good career. Great? I don’t know. But good.

You obviously didn’t read the whole post. Thanks though.

Same with you, my man.

I did.

Relative athletic score is based on the relative athletes at a players position group.

Which is why 90% of your post is talking about the discrepancy in the numbers. Because Ciarlo is an LB and Hamlin is a DB.

As for the last line, RAS is based on position group because I imagine they want to base players who all have the same general responsibilities. There are things you need your DBs to do that you don’t necessarily need your LBs to do and viceversa.

Its not a perfect system but nothing is perfect.

I think both Ciarlo and Shenault make it over Shavers for teams. Shavers makes 53 if we decide to keep six WR which isn't a guarantee at this stage. Everyone is overlooking teams imo.

I forgot all about Shenault, good call. And he plays Special Teams, which has historically been the factor for the 6th WR/4th RB. But not sure he makes the team as we have some other returners around already.

I was really pulling for the Bills to sign or even draft Dolac honestly. Oh well...

The seventh rounder could have been used instead of on Prather who they appeared to have already cut

At least this kid has shown flashes. I’d certainly prefer him over a guy like Buffalo Joe with lead in his shows. At least this kid has made fast physical plays in limited time

Where does this stuff come from with you folks?  Andreessen is a very good athlete, and made a ton of fast physical plays last preseason.  His main sin so far is not dropping back deep enough in his zones, which has very little to do with athleticism and very much to do with comfort and experience.

If you're gonna trash talk our own players, at least do so with some kind of basis in reality.

He’s horrendous. Flat footed constantly cant cover and is way to slow to be a LB in the modern NFL. Where’s it come from? Watch the games. He sucks. Cute story. Take the blinders off he cannot be in position to ever play a down that counts.  The reality is every ball down the seem is wide open when he’s on the field. It’s plain as day.

Marino has Ciarlo making roster and so do I

He could be our 4th best LB right now.

After Bernard Milano and Dorian, no one stands out.  Ciarlo plays like the game isn’t too big for him.  He could easily make a difference for us.  And he is good on ST, which was brutal on kick coverage last night.

We shall see if the Bills brass thinks the same thing.  I don’t think management is great w roster building.  They know O lineman and RB’s.  The rest they have gotten by because of Josh.  But they need to be better to win the bowl.  Let’s hope they figure it out this year.

He played snaps that counted last season.  He was fine.  Did he piss in your Cheerios or something?

I'm hoping Shenault stays but its a longshot.  I guess you gotta ask yourself is Codrington a better emergency CB than Shenault a WR6?

Buffalo Joe is London Fletcher light.  He is a plugger. The problem is the game is not played like that so much anymore.  Have to be able to drop back in coverage a lot playing LB in today’s game.

Shenault is a better football player than Codrington period.

I don’t think Codrington could start at most Power 5 conferences as a CB now.

We don’t need so many small guys on the team.

Physicality is important still in the NFL.  It’s pro football.

Great point and on consideration he probably is.

Great question.  Before the preseason, I would've bet on Codrington, but after what I've seen the last few games, I'd keep Shenault.

Shakir

Palmer

Coleman

Samuel/Moore

Shavers

Shenault

Decision to be made between Samuel and Moore. Hamler gone (can he make the practice squad?)

I disagree.

Andreesen's speed and agility scores are good to very good and his explosion grade is excellent.

He has plenty of athletic ability... he just needs to polish his game.

The colors aren’t matching the measurement score itself. Not even remotely.

Minor differences have either drastic positive or negative RAS…

For instance a faster 40 for Hamlin is graded lower than a slower one on the Athletic Scoring.

Millimeter height difference is a 3.3 RAS difference?

Their 3 cone scores are almost identical, splitting hairs, but 1.09 lower for Hamlin?

Shuttle is no difference. One decimal place for Hamlin (4.4) vs. (4.35) for Ciarlo… is Hamlin rounded up or down? Either way, 5 whole points for a minute difference is bizarre.

Not saying Hamlin is one thing or not but if you’re defining it specifically by position, that’s perplexing when the overall sizes are not far off each group and you’re testing general athleticism.

They're not testing general athleticism. RAS means Relative Athletic Score. The relative piece means relative to other players in your exact same position group, not relative to anyone outside your position group.

Being athletic doesn't make you a good coverage player. Dorian Williams is very athletic, but he is weak in coverage as well. Coverage is more about intuition and feeling route progressions as they develop.

Shenault is totally unimpressive.

He is, but what do you genuinely expect out of a guy who is basically an emergency player?  He didn’t live up to his draft hype, but he’s a good returner, mediocre WR and could be used as an emergency RB if push came to shove.  I don’t know who makes more sense for them, but it’s basically him or Coddrington for the returner/emergency position player IMO.  I don’t care to see either out there aside from returns, but if I HAD to have one, I’d rather it be Shenault, Coddrington is just not good at CB and WILL get burned.

In an ideal world, you get a guy like Ty Johnson as the returner, who has a clear place on the team already and you don’t have to use a roster spot on a guy that’s really only doing one thing for you.  Why they don’t take that approach is beyond me, it’s not like Ty is getting to so many reps at RB that he couldn’t do both.
