McD said Hancock isn’t ready

Im saying I want to see Hancock get real safety reps.  By doing so he would remove himself from nickel.  Nickel is the more important position to the defense.  I think Mcdermott wants him as his utility S/Nickel and the primary back up to Johnson.

Really tired of reading the Damar hate around here.  Is he the best athlete out there?  No.  But he has gotten better every year, he knows the defense backwards and forwards, and he is unlikely to cost the Bills a game.  I liken his play to that of Mark Kelso.

We could do much worse than having to play Hamlin to start the season.

Really not interested in Damar Hamlin starting for us, but it seems inevitable.

So much potential with the new additions to the DL, healthy Milano/Bernard.. this Front 7 could be a strength.

And then there’s ol’ Damar back there.   Hes not horrible, but man.. not much of a ceiling for the safety room if this is what we’re looking at.

Ugh - I hear ya!

Here’s hoping Hancock is a quick learner! The Bills had multiple chances in the draft to address the S position, but decided to roll the dice with Bishop, Rapp and Hamlin who all have questions.

Right now the back half of our secondary is concerning.

when 9 training camp / preseason injuries just aren’t enough!

There is no indication Dawkins had to be helped walking to the training room, nor was it mentioned that he limped, so if it  was a lower body  injury (legs, ankles/ feet) the odds are it wasn't too serious.  If it was not lower body, then we're looking at arms shoulders, collar bone, ribs, back or concussion.  With ribs, it is an issue of pain management until they heal up.  We all know about concussion protocol, of course.  There are some possibilities that are more likely than others.  Most of the season ending possibilities are lower body, and he probably wouldn't be walking off the field without assistance or limp if it was one of those.

He's pretty bad man. Sure he knows the defense, but Hamlin is at such a disadvantage out there because of his extreme athletic limitations. I still think back to that pick he had in Week 3 against the Jags - I've literally never seen an NFL player look he was running with cement shoes until that INT run back. It happened again in this past weekend's game where the Giants' running back just blew past him for a long gainer down the sideline. You can justify him being on the roster, but there is no way he should ever see significant time on the field. Hamlin is barely a replacement level player.

And you could easily make the argument that Hamlin severely hindered our chances in the AFC Championship game when he kamikazed our #1 CB coming off a concussion, thereby forcing Elam in the game, and then getting roasted repeatedly himself by the Chiefs receivers.

Did I say he was great?  Even good?  He's passable, and doesn't deserve the hate as if he's just some schmo out there running around.

He was directly involved in two of the biggest plays of the year last year with the fumble by jackson and the stop of henry in the ravens game.

Whatever his limitiations are he was in position and made plays in the biggest moment.

and yes I know the chiefs game was not great but it wasnt't good for any member of the bills defense.

I don't understand why it has to be considered "hate" to believe that a football player is not good enough to justify his role. It's nothing personal, Damar seems like a great guy. But the fact of the matter is he is a liability on defense if counted on to play consistent snaps. To me that is not passable.

As a backup safety, he's better than the backup safeties on most other NFL rosters if their starter goes down. I'm pretty sure that's all eball is getting at.

I think Hamlin is an average NFL safety.  That's all.  What was his PFFFFFFT grade?

“You get the opportunity to see new looks, go against different guys," Allen said. “The number one thing again, I think everyone kind of knows about these types of practice. Sometimes they can get a little chippy, and we’re not looking to go out there and fight, but we’re going out there to compete and get those competitive juices flowing. And that’s very fun for me.”

Re: the joint practice, just hoping to get out of it unscathed.

Last year Ben Johnson was everybody's darling, but since he took over HC to me he has shown some serious douchebag vibes.  Hoping his new 'tough guy' persona doesn't spill over to Bears players doing crap after whistles etc

By many accounts, Caleb Williams is still well behind where he was expected to be as an NFL QB r through camp year 2. After sitting out of week 1 exhibition, it’ll be interesting to see what he looks like vs the bills 1s in Primetime next Sunday.

I give Allen all the joint practice reps and sit him out the preseason game.  Maybe an appearance vs Tampa.  ( I’m going to that game).

Hey Matt! I'll be at the Tampa preseason game too with my son (flying in from Rochester) and the wife!

Is he the best athlete out there? No. Is he fast enough for the position? No. Will the defense ever stop third and forever with him out there? No. Will the offense finally be able to have even a single down game with him out there? No. Does he know the defense backwards and forwards? Yes!
