Yeah, I thought this was similar to the "concerned" comment regarding Diggs a couple of years ago.

If he is still having nagging injuries and if there are not other semi-major injuries to players between now and then, I wonder if they use one of the 2 pre-season IRs on him.  He's expensive to cut and stashing him on the IR keeps him on the roster but doesn't take a roster spot.  Use Moore in that role for the first part of the season and see how it works out.  If he's great and/or Samuel is still struggling with injuries, you could cut him down the road but only keep 5 WR on the roster for the initial 53.

In any case, McDermott's comment about Shavers sure doesn't make it seem like he's a player they're about to cut. You can only sneak a guy like him onto the practice squad so many times before he gets scooped off waivers.

 

I know the capologists here say it can't  happen but I just wouldn't be surprised if Samuel was Spector'd.

To me, he seems to be moving in the same direction as Baylon Spector. If his contract wasn't toxic he's already be gone.

I agree it’s not impossible he unseats Moore (who I am one of the most critical posters on), but I’d still be surprised. Unless Shavers plays very well in preseason, I think they will feel like they can get him to the practice squad. Then they get three elevations before having to commit a roster spot to him.

Agreed. I'm getting older so maybe my memory fails me a bit. But IIRC Shavers looked good in camp last year and it didn't translate well to the preseason games. 

 

If he can show out even a bit this year in the games I think it gets harder to slip him to PS. If he makes a bunch of plays on offense this preseason  then it gets far more likely. Daboll is always sniffing around our leftovers.

Could special-teamed/WR Shenault be on the WR list, making it 7, or replacing one of the 6?

Samuel would count $8 mil on our dead cap this year and another $3+ mil in 2026 if cut, he will be a Bill through 2025 I believe. He will def be cut next year.

Yea we will see. Definitely a guy I root for, but someone I think us fans value more than another team would.

Davan Harmon? I believe he was a 7th round pick from by the Browns in 2022. Bounced around on a few different practice squads. He just hasn't found a long term home yet

We can’t cut or trade him but we sure as hell can leave his ass off the active roster on game days (assuming we can’t justify IR). Only seven months until we can cut bait. What a waste!
