For perspective - Stevie Johnson has 3 consecutive seasons of 1000 yards and he wasn't very good.  When there isnt much to work with, you can still stack production.  Now Terry is definitely better than Stevie, but I don't think he is that uncoverable guy either.

Dont get me wrong though, I really like Terry, was a fan of him coming out and wanted us to draft him too.  But I just don't think he is the league of the guys he listed, some of which were some of the best in their era or ever at their respective positions.

I understand and totally get the conclusion that you’re at. It’s not wrong and it’s not right in totality. Not saying he’s on the level or even close to any of those guys you listed, he’s not. But there’s only maybe 10 guys in the league tops that he doesn’t stack up against and a few of them is splitting hairs. But I do agree completely he isn’t “uncoverable”. High end 1B option in today’s league.

Im a huge fan of Amon St. Brown but I think if you switched Terry with him he’s borderline all-pro.

Only guys I see clearly above him, night and day, are Chase, Jefferson, Nabers and maybe Garrett Wilson and Brian Thomas.

I don't think we are far off in what we think about Terry, my original comments were his comparison against guys who at their peak were considered top 5 at their positions in their era or even all time (well still not sure what Rice he was talking about lol).

I really do like Terry, so don't want my post to confuse that.  And I don't really disagree with much of what you are saying either and totally get your point and perspective.

All good dude, I totally understood where you were coming from. I just feel the part we are splitting hairs was him being a go to guy in crunch time. He produced in the playoffs, even moderately against Philly as the go to guy.

I think you put him on a team like Detroit, Rams, Tampa or Minnesota his number inflate.

In essence, great player but needs a little help to be truly “dominant”.

Agreed and I think this is a fair take on him as well

With the news on Shakir I would hope Beane is calling the Commanders to see if a trade can be worked out.

You know Shakir is just missing some preseason games right?

High ankle sprain isn’t a season ender and Samuel will fill Khalil’s role until he’s back, but I would be calling the Commanders on Terry regardless. Getting a sure handed boundary guy with that level of production is a big difference maker. I like hearing about Keon’s great plays in camp, but too many drops have been mixed in and he is sounding like the Bills version of Quentin Johnson as of now.

Not so sure about that. That's the issue. And if it happens again?? It's shakirs second time on same ankle. I don't like the cut of this jib.

Yes, I know but that ankle could be an issue all season even if he is playing. Plus, it's not like we have a great WR group with him either. McLaurin would be a nice addition as he would give Allen another weapon to have in the passing game.

What the hell, guys...this is a message board, there's no place for these kinds of pleasantries!

AJ Brown. He is the third best receiver in football. It is Jefferson, Chase, Brown in that order. I think there is a gap between the top 2 and Brown but a bigger gap between Brown and whoever you have #4.

My biggest concern about attempting a trade for Terry is he'll be 30 next month.  We gotta hit on a rookie deal wr whether it's Coleman or someone soon.

Yea. I said it earlier. He turns 30 in September, that is wide receiver decline territory. Especially a guy like Terry for whom speed is a key facet of his game. I'm not sure it makes sense for any top team to give up assets commensurate with what the Commanders would want, plus the contract that Terry would want given the age.

If he was a free agent and you were just gambling one asset (i.e. free agency dollars) I could see it as worth a shot. But Washington are going to want at least a 2nd round pick too. That is a lot of premium asset spend on a 30 year old speed receiver.

I’d throw Ceedee Lamb, AJ Brown and probably Nico Collins (was leading the league before the injury last year) in that list.

They said 5 weeks yes?  That puts him back in time for week 2 against the Jets IF it heals right. High ankle sprains can linger

If he can play week 2 - he’s going to play week 1.  Because of the magnitude of the game.

They said 5 weeks because that takes us up to game 1.

They think he’ll be ready by then.

If he isn’t then this is closer to 6-8 weeks meaning we’ll see him around week 3 or 4.

I hope the team is preparing a game plan with him out just in case, or limited at best. We need this week 1 game against the Ravens

Yes we do.  Last year the regular season dumpster fire game against the Ravens, when Shakiir went down the passing game turtled.  I believe that's when they started looking at Amari Cooper.  I would like to think the game plan will include a heavy dose of James Cook to control the clock but even that seems a little up in the air right now.

I don't really think Washington will consider trading him, but can't hurt to feel it out. I would imagine Beane has probably made an initial call as most GMs would.

Good call, forgot about him. Certainly a gap between him and the next guy like you said. Thanks!
