I think he has a role in this league but it is not the role I think the Bills want him to play. Keon's best attribute is his run after catch ability. You gotta get the ball in his hands close to or around the line of scrimmage and then let him use his power, agility and vision to make defenders miss in the open field. Right now he's much more dangerous horizontally than he is vertically. 2 1 Quote

If he can get better at eating off of DB's heads, he can play out there. If he can't, he probably won't. His ball-tracking can be suspect at times and that's not usually an easy thing to overcome. 1 Quote

I don't think he is a good enough contested catch guy to make a living that way. I agree he is never going to run away from anyone so it is down to two things for me: 1. Can he dictate the route from the off more? He needs to be the protagonist more, he is too reactive. 2. Can he improve his spacial awareness at the top of the route? That is where I think he really struggles. He has to feel that contact and play off it and I don't think he can live that way. So it is nuance that he needs to develop. 1 Quote

This is just wrong. Based on early training camp reports the top 3 WRs are very clearly Palmer, Shakir, and Coleman. Samuel and Moore will both contribute but they are not ahead of Coleman. And nothing either of them has done recently would tell you they are clearly better players than Coleman. He has a lot to prove this year but you're being overly judgmental. Especially when it comes to Moore - so far in his career he has been a bust, he's on his 3rd team in 5 years, but you're proclaiming him a better player just like that? 1 Quote

I hated the pick when it was made and I’ve eased off that a little based on his first half of last season, but I don’t have high hopes for him as an X. My guess is he’s fine-ish/meh here for 4 years then goes somewhere else to play the slot. 1 Quote

Not a pre-season depth chart.... but through 3 days of camp he has been exclusively with the 1st team offense. There is no way that right here, right now he is 5th on the depth chart. And I say that as someone that isn't particularly a fan of him. Quote

Most of his holds come in transition and in and out of breaks. The Bills D requires much more of that than the Dallas D. Don't get me wrong, I think Elam might be beyond rescuing at this stage - but it was my position on the day we drafted him that the Bills defense would expose his worst weaknesses and mitigate his biggest strengths. I never thought it was ever a fit. The Dallas scheme is much closer to the type of D I think Elam can succeed in. Can you explain why/what the differences are there? I TOTALLY DEFINITELY know, but just in case there are people less smart than me and you who don't 😆 On 7/24/2025 at 9:27 AM, Albany,n.y. said: Considering Keon could easily be 5th on the depth chart, I think there's a good chance he doesn't make the team. Probably goes for a 5th or 6th by late August, early September. All it will take is a rookie or new WR who can return kicks showing more than him in preseason. Good to see this place has LITERALLY learned zero since Bernard lol surely no player in NFL history has ever made a 2nd year jump. Why wait around to find out amirite lol 2 Quote

Playing outside in the Cowboys D traditionally (under previous DCs) their corners just play press at the line and then run vertically with their receiver. Values long speed and ball skills over processing speed and quick transitions. That said I have just remembered Matt Eberflus is now their DC and he traditionally has run some more Sean McDermott esque combination zone concepts. Will be interesting to see what their defense looks like. 2 Quote

I think he genuinely likes the combat and if he can develop good pro instincts he could become sort of a rich man's Mack Hollins. He'd be a real handful for DB's when things get off-schedule, Allen leaves the pocket and stripes sort of start letting guys get after each other downfield. 1 Quote
4merper4mer Posted July 26 Posted July 26 9 hours ago, Albany,n.y. said: Those were the best examples of people asking why I hated someone I didn't hate. I observed the actions of the rest of the GMs who let Brohm go by & was flamed because people like you said "I saw him play in college". I can't come up with others because I haven't observed many cases where the actions of NFL professionals have indicated they don't think much of a player and it applied to someone on the Buffalo Bills. After Arizona dumped Rosen after 1 year I drew the same conclusion, but his main supporter was on a different board, so you probably didn't see the flaming then. The reaction that I hate a player because I see a problem that the player has with management that draws an overreaction that I don't like the guy is way over the top. The times I notice this aren't often, but every time I do, people go way over the top & say I don't like the guy. Nothing could be further than the truth. I can't think of any Bills player I've ever disliked when he was on the team. Coleman may make the team, but his future in Buffalo is on very thin ice. There are just too many WRs on the roster better than him: Shakir, Palmer, Moore & Samuel. That puts him as WR #5 IMO. If a rookie WR shines in preseason, Coleman will have trouble making the team. There are just too many receiving options including the RBs & TEs that it will be very difficult for Coleman to get targets & be much of a factor in this offense. If there's a player who opens eyes as a 5th receiver who looks better than Coleman in August, Beane will cut his losses & take a draft choice for Coleman. I'm sure there are other teams where Coleman wouldn't be the 5th best WR, but in Buffalo, he currently is, no matter what preseason depth chart you might find on the internet. People like me? Get a grip. Congrats on being right about a 5th round QB and a guy we signed off someone’s practice squad. 6 hours ago, GoBills808 said: spending preseason debating the merits of elijah moore vs keon coleman is peak buffalo bills football Now do Brian Brohm. SCBills Posted July 26 Posted July 26 (edited) So many here wish we could back in time and draft Ladd McConkey, but most NFL scouts believe Keon’s best usage would be similar to that of… Ladd McConkey. Keon can win outside in certain alignments, and against smaller corners, if I’m Allen and see no Safety shaded his way, I’m throwing that jump ball down the sideline ala against Arizona, every time. But with his big body able to shield defenders and what he showed in the gauntlet, getting him in quick hitters and in space, could truly unlock him. Issue, of course, being Shakir, Kincaid, Knox.. our RB’s also all play in that area. Maybe have Palmer as the primary outside receiver, Shakir is the primary slot, and then Coleman, Samuel and Moore as guys who have position flex. Edited July 26 by SCBills 4 1 Quote
Bruffalo Posted July 26 Posted July 26 I think you all might be getting too worked up about "slot vs. outside" when Joe Brady's offense has a lot of tight packages and bunch formations where pretty much everybody is packed together anyway. I think Coleman will contribute this season in a meaningful way. I'm higher than most on him (although I didn't love the pick), and we need to remember this is more "Year 1.5" than it is 2. I love how candid Coleman has been about the shortcomings of his game this offseason and I think that with a true growth mindset he could make some serious improvements to his game. He has all the tools. You can't teach tall. 3 1 Quote
