here in San Diego you see the word Carmel a LOT in street addresses.  

 

at this point my mind defaults to saying it the same way for caramel you put on a sundae

my initial thought was car-a-mel, but after repeatedly saying it out loud, i tend to say car-mel.  i'm confused, and now i'm going to take the rest of the day off.

jesus...i do the same thing.  the candy by itself would be car-mel, but on a apple it definitely is car-a-mel.  now i hate the word as much as golf.
