May Day 10 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 15 minutes ago, Low Positive said: but I'm not sure what is to be done. All that being said, continuing on with Adams is clearly not the answer. They need to get a GM and coach with a winning background who will get players to lift their no-trade clauses so that we can trade prospects for guys that can win now. The problem permeates throughout the organization and is not only Adams. Pegula has circled the wagons and has insulated them from the outside world, not unlike Ralph Wilson later in life. The only people there are people the owner and Adams are comfortable with. Most/all of these people are grossly under-qualified, and have a track-record of long-term failure here with zero accountability. Pegula has also been proven to be a poor judge of character when he thinks the opposite. Adams - Nightingale - Crowe - Jakubowski - Forton - Ventura - Mair/Kennedy - Appert - Ellis - Karmanos... all of them. Pegula needs to install someone at the top who will fix each hockey-related department. Cleanse out these grifters, and hire people who are qualified and at the forefront of their areas of expertise. Buffalo is not the most appealing destination for 20-something millionaires when held up to NYC or Vegas, I get it. However, the organization undoubtedly carries a lot of dubious baggage throughout the NHLPA for various dealings and a clear lack of urgency to succeed. Create a success-oriented organization where players come in, have fun, succeed, maximize their earning potential, and be treated fairly? Yeah, players would be much more open to coming here. As long as they keep toiling with Adams and this crew, they will never be a good team. Appert will be named the new head coach within the next year and we will have to suffer through at least 2 seasons of a low level NCAA coach pretending to be an NHL coach. They may snag a WC spot at some point as #16 in a 32 team league, but they won't ever break through. They will oscillate between bottom of the barrel and mediocre. Quote

PromoTheRobot Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) It's a shame these highlights left out the fight. Sabres Dunne won it decisively. Edited September 23 by PromoTheRobot Quote

It probably won't get much better than this. Helenius looks legit. Benson had a pretty sweet assist on the Tage goal. And we are all the way back. Edited September 24 by Jauronimo 2 Quote
BillsFan4 Posted September 24 Posted September 24 I only watched a few minutes of the 3rd period of last night’s game so I can’t say much about how they played in that one. But I thought they looked good in game 1. Their first period was not great but then I thought they kind of took over the game after that. I’m surprised TBH, but I do find myself starting to feel a bit hopeful about this season. lol 1 Quote
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted September 24 Posted September 24 See if they can get Tony Masiello to cut a ribbon at the home opener, to celebrate the return and economic revival of both Buffalo, and the Buffalo Sabres. Quote

May Day 10 Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Preseason NHL is probably the most worthless of worthless preseasons. The rosters are all over the place. The Sabres were 6-1 last season's preseason. 1 1 Quote
