And it’s not like he isn’t getting opportunities. Aside from the Jets game, the run defense has been a sieve, as resistant as tissue paper. Has his name even been mentioned even one time in any of our 4 games for making a play? We traded up for this guy in the second round from a decent SEC program. Between him and Landon Jackson we are basically getting nothing so far. What the hell is Beane looking at when drafting these guys? At least Boogie Basham got on the field and made a few plays. And everyone wanted him gone too. 1 1 1 1 Quote

You have some guys that seem like they just sit for years due to vague soft tissue injuries. Gruden agrees with you 3 Quote

I will also say that I get how teams don’t want to ruin their investments and players don’t want to rush back and not be 100%. But the reality is for some players, if they don’t rush back and actually play, they are never going to find their footing in the league. Quote
RyanC883 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Come back after the bye week and get him in there ASAP to get reps and see what we have. ALSO trade for a CB. We don’t have time for questions in the secondary this year. Even Bendord has looked shaky. Edited 6 hours ago by RyanC883 1 Quote

I think they will activate his window in the ramp up to the Panthers game but probably give him the full 21 days to get more comfortable on the leg and get some reps under him. Quote

Yeah I don’t think they should rush Hairston back but once he is ready he better be starting. The best way for young players to get better is by actually playing in games. Don’t make the same mistake they made with Bishop last year. 1 Quote

Agree, I think we’ll see Hairston around mid November if all goes well. From the small sample of videos posted, no way is he close to being able to run with a WR and tackle RB’s. 1 1 1 Quote

Mid November would place him at 6ish more weeks and give him plenty of time to ease into game action Quote

By pretty much every draft metric, Beane is a top 3 (absolutely top 5) GM in the draft. Its been posted here ad nauseum. I get it, we traded up for dude, and I wish he was playing like Walker right now, or Dexter Lawrence LOL... the reality is hes a rookie taking his lumps, in a defense with a ton of new moving parts, and a young DC. Lets give the kid a chance to develop! Theres an analytics post circulating on Twitter today showing he has the both 2nd highest pressure rate, as well as pressures among rookie DT's this season. Its early so, admittedly not the most meaningful stat..... but the flip side, is 4 games is not a meaningful sample size. Most of us dont see the All-22's, and even those that do dont know the assignments. What I do know is hes getting a chance to play a bunch and that can only help him. Adjusting to savvy veteran Centers/Guards who have been professionals for 3,5,10 years staying power in the NFL is a big jump. Lets see how hes looking over the next 8 weeks to get a more meaningful answer... but early stats seem to indicate hes doing well at the thing we expected him to come in and do well at early Quote

I want him out there as soon as its not long term dangerous for his career... because we need him to get as much action as possible heading into playoffs... and at the same time, the longer he sits out, the less likely I see McD willing to trust him to get out there and play. Unfortunately! People forget hes still going to have to come in and really beat out Tre White in practice to get a chance to start. His ability to diagnose and process the field is whats most likely to keep him from winning that job in a short time frame. Realistically I think it would take several games where he really outperforms to get the vote of confidence from McD... in ~6weeks, its going to take a few weeks to win a starting job (if things go well).... and then McD is probably going to want to see him hold it over for atleast 2-3 games at minimum, to get playoff nod.... total spculation on my part, but my best educated guess. Accomplishing all that with 6 weeks of the season isnt impossible, but its a tight window really. IMO having drafted him and hoping he wins out should not be a deciding factor on if we want to bring in a Rasul type guy, or a FA, to try and fight for that 2nd CB job/next man up role. Its easy to think "were talking backup CB?!?" But with Benford's injury history, seeing that decide a playoff game last year, and Tre White's play so far, is frightening idea. Could you imagine a world where Tre is our #1, and then we don't even know who #2 is? Its not even just Benford, but Tre is (sadly) a walking injury... We are one bad break away from an undrafted MAAC player in his 2nd year, and a 5th rd rookie, being our starting CB's in the playoffs. I know injuries hurt every team, but the margin for this defense, and this teams SB run feels extra thin at CB position. Quote

I agree, when healthy he needs to be getting reps, Nuthin like live action to teach a player what parts of their game they need to work on, Quote
