brianthomas Posted Friday at 01:52 PM Posted Friday at 01:52 PM did you guys see this? Brady apparently wants to come out of retirement. When i saw the headline i 1st thought the NFL, but its about this flag football in the Olympics https://archive.ph/ZFON7 I cant imagine he'd be that great, with his noodle arm at this age. But it is Brady after all Quote

But it is Brady after all Larry Bird with a busted up back in his mid 30's was able to beat up on Angola in 1992 I think Brady feels that even at 51 with no contact for the QB he can beat up on a bunch of guys who play flag football in Germany. BearNorth Posted Friday at 04:03 PM Posted Friday at 04:03 PM For anyone thinking this is a walkover, I suspect this could possibly be Cool Runnings 2.0. The entire island of Jamaica has a lot of very fast people. If I look at world track, 60 meter top 10 leaders this year, USA has 3, Jamaica has 3, some very fast athletes in Australia as well. I imagine some rugby union players will be a handful, Christian Wade would be tailor made for this type of contest. I agree that Lamar with his sheer speed would be the QB. I think everyone on the USA roster will have 4.40 or better speed. Hill - Phish Worthy - Chiefs Breece Hall - Jets Metcalf - Seahawks Waddle - Bungles McLaurin - Commanders suspect with the speed on offense the d will be heavily seasoned with CB's who can stay close and have long arms. CSBill Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I think Josh has to be a part of this. Do they play both ways? Quote

If he's all he's touted to be, Travis Hunter who can play DB and WR will certainly be in the mix. The few televised games i've seen, this is clearly a "speed kills" game, doubt there will be much demand for the bigger slower wideouts. Should be tailor made for quick elusive players who get up to top speed in the first couple of steps. Lamar is supposedly a 4.34 40 guy, Josh is 4.7. Quote

BN, Metcalf was traded to the Steelers as an fyi. I agree with your supposition speed and elusiveness matter more than anything else. I coached my kids in a competitive flag league for 7 years alternating with tackle. Lamar is the better choice over Josh in this league. As far as RB’s, they aren’t used as much, but if they keep one or two, you want Cook as he has breakaway speed. Henry and other bruisers even with speed are not as needed. You want speed at all positions along with great hand ey control. Pulling a flag at full speed against elusive players is not as easy as one thinks. Quote
sven233 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Here's the thing.... I am all for NFL players being allowed to play in this if they want to......as long as they are not a member of the Buffalo Bills. The last thing I need is one of our star players blowing out a knee or something weeks before the season is about to start playing flag football. This isn't Pro Bowl level flag football either. These are hyper competitive games where bad things can and probably will happen. That said, I am all for other NFL players playing because I think it would be awesome and fun to watch. I know some view it as a joke, but flag football is starting to become a huge thing in the US. It has been gaining momentum for a long time and NFL players might help it explode. It was just reported a few weeks ago by ESPN that there are already major investors like TKO that are looking to get in on the ground floor of both men's and women's professional leagues as the NFL is really behind this because they think it is a great way to introduce the game to new people. With the NFL throwing their support behind it,I think those that invest early are going to be rewarded for it. So yeah.....I hope 31 other teams have at it. I'll be rooting for you to win gold! Quote

There’s really no reason not to approve them playing if they want to. Yes, injuries can happen, but they can also happen just by working out. I’m sure the legal details were discussed and the owners will not invalidate contracts if a player is injured during the Olympics. Although I agreed for the most part....with running routes and making cuts, players are open to injuries. Look at how many players get injured in non-contact practices. Quote
