For some of you young, spoiled fans, here’s what the rest of us had to deal with. 1984 Buffalo Bills

Following this team for over 50 years, I can say without hesitation that no Bills fan is spoiled.

This is why, having lived through the entire Bills' history, I bask in their recent success. As a franchise, we have had two great eras: the early 1990s and the past five years.

Are we currently spoiled, maybe? But I enjoy every moment of it.

And if the Bills ever do win it all, I think, like many old-timers, we'll go to the party of the century in Buffalo and then die some time later that week, having finally accomplished the last big thing on our bucket list.

Go Bills! I think 🙂

Guys like us at least have the AFL championships to remember.  I have to believe God is benevolent enough to give us one Lombardi before we leave the planet!

That Greg Bell fellow looked pretty good, bet he anchored the backfield for many years to come in Buffalo! /s

Actually he switched positions and played dominant outside pass rushing LB for over a decade.

Is there a team in all of sports that has endured the heartbreak of a Bills fan?  Jets and Browns fans have it bad.  But Bills lose in spectacular fashion- kickoff returns, hailmarys, laterals, missed FG, ref screw jobs, braindead coaching decisions, Plummer hitting Darrick Holmes and returning it 99 yards for a TD, McKelvins 200 yard return, making every Saint defender miss at least once, and getting tackled at the one as time expired, yada, yada. Y'all know the heartbreak, I don't need to explainit to Bills Mafia

It sucked but it got us Bruce

You could see Bills were on the cusp in 1987.  You saw glimpses of what the Offense, Defense, and Special Teams could do, and it was an exciting time to be a Bills fan.  It tasted sweeter after 0 for the 70s against the Fins and a rough 80s. 1988 Bills rocked, and you saw their greatness

Yeh that was a fun time. I went to my first game in 87. We lost to the Jets but it was like 34 to 32.

It's weird how there are certain Bills games no one remembers. The 1988 AFC championship game (1/8/89) vs Cincinnati is one example. We were one game from our first Super Bowl that year.

Bengals went on to lose Niners.

Yes the 1982 to 1987's was a brutal time for this team to be a fan.... Until the it started to turn it around for them in 1988...

Coaching changes, player changes a whole lot of everything going on during these years.

This was one major rollercoaster ride being a fan during this time.

Love these old videos. keep them coming. Part of me feels so sad these days are gone. maybe I'm sad because I'm getting older and I miss my youth, but there was a simplicity to the game back then. It was more hard nosed, more ground and pound, less glitzy. Yet at the same time it felt more tactical. I'm not a coach so have no idea if that's true but it just felt more cat and mouse then, especially with the defense having so much more ability within the rules to make a stop.

It wouldn't sit well with the redzone generation who think anything less than a combined score of 60+ points is a boring game but man I miss it! I think that's why I love Josh so much. He feels like such an old school player with the way he launches himself into contact and stiff arms defenders

Yeah....

But! Beating the Cowboys of all teams to break that goose egg was pretty sweet! 😄

At that game. Only saw the last 40 yards of Greg bell run.

Everyone was drunk and in shock. I was nine and freezing.

I wish some of you had been around in the earlier days.  You’d go to the Rockpile and guys would carry cases of Genny into the stadium, and with their buddy drink the whole thing during the game.  Back in the late 60’s, early 70’s it was the only way to keep your sanity.

I’m afraid you will have to.

Bell was used in the trade for C. Bennett, I think that's what he was referring to.

Oh, I thought he was mistakenly thinking of the great Greg Bellisari (thank you, Pro Football Reference)
