The Defesne is in Trouble

Granted 3/4’s of the secondary was out as well as Milano (who surely wasn’t 100% before being out for todays game)

 

but…

 

The defense has given up chunks of yards all year but not many points. Now they’re giving up chunks of yards and points. 
 

If a team truly commits to running the ball against the Bills, they don’t have an answer for it, and it opens up so many other options. 
 

When they aren’t getting gashed by the run, they aren’t generating any pass rush, which leaves an already depleted secondary in a really bad spot.

 

Bad teams can’t really expose that. Baltimore did it first. Then Houston, LA, Detroit and now New England. 

 

tjis is going to be a problem in the playoffs

At this point it looks to me that Dorian Williams maybe should take over for Malino. He's been making plays

At this point, the main thing is how can they cover the inefficiency of the D Line. 

 

I'd say Bernard does not look like taking a step forward from last year. But it could be because D-Line is of no help. He's good, but not in great category.

 

I agree with Duffy that Dorian is better than Milano. The question is can Milano get back to his old self AGAIN this season.

I don't trust Milano anymore.  Healthy or not, he seems to have lost his burst. We need to roll with Bernard/ Williams the rest of the way. Need Rasul back asap to get Elam off the field. Then of course Rapp & Hamlin (ugh) will help shore things up some. This is by no means a Top 10 defense ready for the playoffs.  But if we can score offensively and get just enough stops/turnovers, we can hang with anybody. Alot of "ifs"....

As I said in the draft thread we shoulda traded Milano while his stock was high and gotten some more ammo I don't think he's washed but he's often injured and it shows

There’s some truth to this but you’re embellishing the problem by lumping Houston, NE, and even Detroit (with garbage time) in with Baltimore and LA.   These defensive performances weren’t close.  
 

The problem is the defensive line.  They get beat far too often - especially the interior.  The Bills defense is built to rush the QB with the front 4.  
 

When that doesn’t happen they typically have issues.  Even when the Bills do rush the QB they fail to bring them down.    

The playoffs begin a completely new year, so I’m hoping for the best.

Dorian was essentially out for load management when ne scored those two early tds.  Even just him over Spector all game and none of the injured guys back and it’s a very different game imo

They can’t afford to get nostalgic here, if Dorian is better, he’s just better. 
 

He’s certainly faster on the field.

The problem is when he was playing super well you wouldnt think to trade him lol. Once he’s injured and recovering you’d be selling him low and get next to nothing for him 

 

also Spector might be the worst football player in the nfl so trading a linebacker midseason is an insanely bad idea
