I don't understand why Atlanta keeps coming up. How many times to try and fail do they get? Understand money talks, but it just seems like a market that just doesn't care about hockey and history has shown that

First, Atlanta is a massive market. The NHL wants to be there. Second, lack of fan support wasn't the problem for the Thrashers, it was having to share the Omni with the Hawks. This time the team will play in the northern suburbs in their own building.

I'm with you, screw Atlanta. Bring back Quebec City instead. Houston would be a great add also

Draisaitl with the redemption in OT, after blowing the chance to make it 5-3 with 3 minutes to go in regulation.

When he didn't score there, I feared it was a sign they would lose, then when Florida tied it with 19 seconds, yikes......thankfully they were able to complete the comeback.

Aside from Game 3, this has really been a fun series to watch!

If the answer all along was the team having their own building, this could have been accomplished a long time ago.

Atlanta was never good either.  A perperually bad nhl team is a dreadful product.  I grew up a huge hockey fan and played much of my life and I cannot watch the sabres, it is so boring.

I dont think Quebec city, Hartford, or any nonsense like that is getting a team anytime soon.

Need corporate money, population, television market.

Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix, all probably guaranteed as the next 3.  After that, probably something like indy or KC.

Not to mention Quebec City already has an NHL ready arena built.

The NHL philosophy with expansion is growing the game. Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix grows the footprint. Hartford and Quebec City does not. Those are already hockey cities.

How come Milwaukee is not in contention?  Decent sized market in a state with hockey roots.

Seems like Edmonton never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

They really had a chance to take control of this series at home, and they laid an egg!!

Indiana blowing Game 4 in the NBA finals, and Edmonton losing Game 5 in the Stanley Cup finals could prove costly for both teams, IMO.

Not a big time hockey fan, but watched last night until 2-0 hoping Edmonton would win. Panthers pretty much took it to them from the start from what I saw.  I don’t see the panthers losing again.

I'm torn.  On one hand I'd like to see Edmonton win because I don't really like the players on Florida.  But on the other hand I'd like to see the American team win.

I'll bet the next expansion round is Houston and Atlanta. Houston can use the Toyota Center for now but will have to build something new. Atlanta group has a plan for an arena north of Atlanta, in Forsyth County.

Expansion beyond 32 teams would be a mistake.

There's talk the next expansion fee will reach $2B.
