Virgil
They traded into the top 10 using three 2nd round picks. On that alone, I couldn’t respect this movie. 3 2

Sweats
I didn't mind it the first time i saw it, but it's soooooooooooooooo totally wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy off base and unrealistic.
WotAGuy
They could also make a movie about a bunch of highly paid guys spending 24/7 for a year planning to pick the MegaMillions draw.

There's been a 10-year running joke in a group text that I have with 2 friends from work, all because one of them suggested I watch Draft Day and I refuse.
transient
The best part of that movie is Tom Telesco’s review of it… 1

I watch at the very least every single year. Put the old Blu Ray in last night about 10pm to watch it, getting ready for today. Regardless of it being somewhat unrealistic in terms of the moves that are made, I don’t believe it’s unrealistic in how things are done generally. Over exaggerated quite a bit in sure. I don’t think there’s as many surprises as in the movie as the real draft, at least not at pick 1. But they had to sell it and if you were talking about pick 3,4,5… I bet it’s very likely. It’s the whole Aaron Rodgers falling scenario. Sure the 3 second rounders for a top 10 pick is rediculous; but for the sake of the movie they had to do something. They fixed it by commenting about the “rookie GM” thing and made that kid all twitchy like Tweek from South Park. overall, love the movie. It’s a tradition to me at this point, like watching Christmas Story and Die Hard on Christmas Eve.

Logic
If I'm understanding correctly... **spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen** ...The GM in this movie desperately needs a quarterback, but instead mortgages his team's future to select an off-ball linebacker and a punt returner, because he finds out none of the top QB prospect's teammates attended his birthday party... Do I have that right? I understand watching it for the camp factor (and Jennifer Garner's dimples), but other than that.... 1

Pretty damn good summary....as someone pointed out - drafted a running back (played by Arian Foster)...at #

(That was the guy who celebrated with his wife and son when the pick wasn't the QB.) Bo Callahan was the "flavor of the month," much-hyped QB prospect. The GM was under pressure by the owner, so he initially thought he needed to make a splash. In truth, the script for this movie is far-fetched, but it's an enjoyable watch if you like the NFL draft and Kevin Costner.

julian
I took my sons to see it at the theatre, they were like 10,11 years old at the time. My wife was like “you’re seriously dragging them to the movies so you don’t have to be a weirdo sitting alone in the theatre ? “ I said “yes” Edited April 25 by julian
uticaclub
Draft Day & Moneyball are my least favorite sports movies. AirBud & Space Jam are more realistic.
