I'm far from a Herbert apologist, but he certainly gutted it out with the rib cartilage injury last season. He was wincing and grabbing his ribs after every throw, but it didn't keep him from ripping it. I don't know about that he had a bunch of 4th down conversions in that end of the season game against the Raiders last year to get the Chargers into the Playoffs. He gets a pass for having a career losing record despite having a loaded roster. He has done absolutely nothing to deserve the amount of respect he gets. It doesn't mean any of those teams are getting rid of their star QBs any time soon, because it just doesn't happen without a massive stroke of luck.
