I think he’s a good QB. Chargers having one of the worst defenses in football and his best weapons being an old as dirt RB and an old as dirt WR isn’t his fault.

That defense forced 5 turnovers against Jacksonville in the playoffs, and Herbert still couldn’t secure the win.

Keenan Allen is like 4months older than Diggs

He’s missed 12 games in 3 years.

Bad game for sure. Still a good QB. Would take him over Tua by a mile.

Tua is not a QB that can carry a team. I’ve never been impressed with Tua.

I think that we’ve seen his ceiling.  It’s funny how some Miami fans and even some Bills fans will  advocate to “build around him.”

What?  He already has arguably the best WR in the NFL, the best WR2, a fast group of running backs, 2 high priced FA’s on the OL, along with 3 other premium picks at OL.

Not to mention one of the best play callers in the NFL.

How much more does he really need?

He has had by far the worst coaching of the others on that list so I'll give him a mulligan. Unfortunately for the Chargers they will probably need one year of pain under a new regime to get their cap in order, before hopefully being competitive in 2025. Chiefs fans needn't worry next season. Other than them it is a division full of total rebuilds.

This is all pretty much true, but there is just something missing from Herbert.

Nothing wrong with being calm and laid back but you have to have some dawg in you, and I have yet to see any in that boy.

I'm far from a Herbert apologist, but he certainly gutted it out with the rib cartilage injury last season. He was wincing and grabbing his ribs after every throw, but it didn't keep him from ripping it. Not necessarily a killer instinct, but certainly tough and his teammates probably have a huge amount of respect for him for it.

I don't know about that he had a bunch of 4th down conversions in that end of the season game against the Raiders last year to get the Chargers into the Playoffs. Staley was awful, and either embodied or was possessed by the Chargers choking fetish.

This is exactly why I say he’s incredibly overrated.  He gets a pass for having a career losing record despite having a loaded roster.  He has done absolutely nothing to deserve the amount of respect he gets.

They are mostly easy to defend on offense once you figure out what they are trying to do in the game.

Defensively they are porous. Bills easily could have had a similar score to the first game if they would have stopped shooting themselves in the foot.

They have a pretty solid red zone defense considering how many trips we and the Chiefs made down there to come away empty or with field goals.

And they were missing a lot of pieces on D.

Curious what Fangio cooked up down there that was so effective. Since they are no longer in it, I am sure they would not mind if we steal a page from their book.

Anybody here like to play dress-up and have some fun pretending to be a Vice News reporter claiming that Fangio is being featured in their next online installment based on his red zone prowess against the Bills and Chiefs—Hopefully, a lady, who may be able to flatter the DC into revealing his genius?

With my plan they won't be "stuck" as they'll have the ability to jettison him after each season.  "Stuck" is giving him a 5-year $250M deal with $150M guaranteed.  The way the offense fizzled this last month and their inability to beat winning teams either points to a problem with Tua or McDaniel's system.

They will technically have the ability, but they absolutely won't use it until they franchise him at least once. So they are "stuck" even if it's techncially by their own doing, because that's the forced meta. Teams just don't get rid of franchise level QBs in their prime, even if they aren't good enough to win it all.

Up until this season there was similar criticism lobbed at Lamar Jackson, Dak (and there might be again soon, despite a near MVP season), and yes even Josh Allen. It doesn't mean any of those teams are getting rid of their star QBs any time soon, because it just doesn't happen without a massive stroke of luck.

With Detroit's win over Dallas last night, guess which team now has the longest active playoff losing streak (minimum streak of three games)??

Team Streak Years
Miami 6 2000-present
Washington 5 2005-present
Pittsburgh 4 2016-present
Las Vegas 3 2002-present
Chicago 3 2010-present
Seattle 3 2019-present
Tennessee 3 2019-present

[with my adjustments to take into account last night's game and reflecting the "Years" in seasons, not actual dates]

Also: Pittsburgh's streak is about to become "5" later today.

In terms of time the Patriots are on that list as well.... Tennessee's last playoff win was AT New England. Appreciate it is probably only 2 games for then but their last playoff win was beating the Rams in the Superbowl.

And I think I am right the Jets currently own the longest streak without a playoff appearance? I think it is 13 years.... catching the Bills drought up fast.

You are correct. The Jets are at 13 seasons, with the next closest being eight with Denver:

Perhaps, but Grandpa and Grandma are having difficulty paying the electric bill. 😕

Not the best comparison. The electric rates are a lot lower than what I used to pay with Niagara Mohawk, or whatever they call themselves these days. Of course, they can't afford to Insure their homes or cars.

Loaded roster? Who is it loaded with?

where do you rank him among QB’s? Higher than Derek Carr? Higher than Baker Mayfield?

because I got news for you, that puts him squarely approaching the top 10 lol
