Braydon Johnson, WR, Oklahoma State - Signed as a FA

I got to watch Braydon at Oklahoma State for five years and he has a chance to make the roster. He's good. 6'0 & around 200 lbs. 4.37 speed. HARD worker and great kid.

Had around 600 yards last season (he missed about a month due to injury)... averaged 18 ypc. He came back from injury and had 110 yards against OU in Norman.

Would be cool to see him make the roster next season (since I'm a die-hard Oklahoma State fan/alum/season ticket holder).

Love the fact that they are giving the son of a former Buffalo Bills player an opportunity to carry out his dream.

As long as his dream isn't also breaking his QB's leg.

Damn. That's a blast from the past, "if you know, you know" kinda comment.

Can't see Josh Allen showboating it up extra yardage on a bootleg against a vested vet. Or that vested vet deciding Josh needs to be brought down a peg or two for being an overly cocky youngster.

Pretty cool to see many of our UDFA class ranked in the top 10 on best available by position on NFL.com. A lot of years our group is made up of guys predominantly not ranked on the NFL.com list at all:

DT DJ Dale - #2 Ranked DT

OT Richard Gouriage - #5 Ranked OT

OT Noah Henderson - #9 Ranked OT

RB Jordan Mims - #8 Ranked RB

WR Jalen Wayne - #15 Ranked WR

-

QB Logan Bonner (Tryout) - #7 Ranked QB

DT Taron Vincent (Tryout) - #9 Ranked DT

RB Isaiah Bowser (Tryout) - #24 Ranked RB

Just WR Braydon Johnson and WR Tyrell Shavers of our signings and LB James Patterson of our tryouts who didn't make the list.

I forgot that we’re now at the point where every other kid was named Something-aden.

Aiden, Brayden, Caden, Hayden, Jaden, Wade N.

Give it another few years.    I had a kid in little league 3 years ago and every kid on the team was an aden, aben or alen.   All of them.  It's just beginning.

Gouraige and Vincent are the most intriguing to me. Think Gouriage makes it if he can beat out Quessenberry and/or Doyle. Or maybe they have him competing against Bates, Boettger and Broeker for a guard spot? He did after all play a lot of games at left guard for the Gators so the position flexibility on the line is there.

Hmmmm…I thought Shavers was highly sought after because of his ST abilities.

Will be exciting to see what happens between Shavers and Shorter. Same position, similar build and potentially both are prized for an ST role at a minimum. Makes you wonder if both can make it…?

Yeah, that confused me. He's not listed as a sought after UDFA on any list I've seen. But I'm not a scout and presumably neither are the people making these lists.

Yeah, no. Maybe a UDFA could beat out a 7th Round Pick. But Shorter will be on the 53 being a 5th Round Pick. Beane's already said he Drafted him because he sees him having "a jersey".

Shavers is playing for a Practice Squad spot. He's not making the squad over Shorter, no matter what he does in Pre-Season garbage time. Only way he's making the 53 is if they determine they want to keep 7 WR's or someone gets hurt.

Even then, I like Jalen Wayne's chances more. He's a universally higher regarded prospect than Shavers.

I get that. Didn’t suggest Shorter wasn’t going to make it at all but rather questioned the similarity and how they, in scouting reports, excel at ST which is why I proposed if both can make it…

Gotcha. I mean, by and large UDFA's aren't expected to make the roster. Especially a roster as strong as ours. If they make the Practice Squad here, they've done well. That's why ours sometimes get poached by teams that have weaker rosters.

So, yeah, I don't think any UDFA WR is going to make it. Barring an injury, we've got 6 WR's etched in stone already with Diggs, Davis, Harty, Shakir, Sherfield, and Shorter.

Shavers could be the Kumerow replacement.  His 6'6 size also makes him an intriguing Redzone option

The emphasis this offseason has been adding offense. I can see us keeping  4 RB's, 7 WRs, 3TE's

I'd say its likely because I don't think they are going to keep 7 LB's like Sal C thinks, one of Matakevich, Klein, or Dodson isn't making this team with Milano, Williams, Bernard, and Spector laying around as well. I think that is an area where both Shorter and Shavers can make the team.  These two if they are as good as they say at ST's would be cheaper options than Veterans like Siran Neal etc.

Offense:

26:

2 - QB: Allen, Allen

5 - RB: Harris, Cook, Hines, Gilliam, Murray

6 - WR: Diggs, Davis, Harty, Shakir, Sherfield, Shorter

3 - TE: Knox, Kincaid, Morris

10 - OL - Dawkins, McGovern, Morse, Torrence, Brown, Bates, Doyle, Edwards, Broeker, Quessenberry (or Gouraige)

Defense:

27

5 - DT: Jones, Phillips, Oliver, Settle, Ford

5 - DE: Miller, Rousseau, Epenesa, Basham, Lawson

6 - LB: Milano, Dodson, Spector, Bernard, Matakevich, Williams

4 - S - Poyer, Hyde, Rapp, Hamlin (lock if healthy)

7 - CB - White, Elam, Benford, Johnson, Neal, Jackson, Austin

Specialist:

3

Here I am at 56, l so someone would have to go.

I cut AJ Klein, though I am not sure how likely that is. To me a guy like Dodson either wins the job or he isn't here, which is crazy. You have to likely lose a corner unless Miller does go on PUP. The chances of any of these UDFAs making, aside from maybe Gouriage is very slim.

I bolded my locks, that roster is 48, essentially 5 spots up for grabs with 2 of those spots likely going to OL and 1 to safety.

All my opinions obviously.
