There is no way we put more pressure on him as a community than he puts on himself to perform. That is just the way professional athletes are. I watched his facial expression i. It never changed. I think he dismisses it . He seems as level headed and sincere when he answers questions as any athlete. Yes he is a superstar NFL QB. Has it gone to his head? I don't think so. I think he takes all the adjectives with a grain of salt. If he were being criticized in public he would also try to take it with another grain of salt. I think his character being what it is he will take any negatives or criticisms he does get as action items for what to work on. Agree, if a pro athlete can’t handle external pressure, they’re in the wrong profession. I emphasize external pressure, because I can understand how the pressure an athlete places on himself could be troublesome. I’ve always assumed that pro athletes enjoy the adulation of fans, but doubt they take fans very seriously. If the pressure of social media posts, sports radio callers, and assorted random dudes is too much, the athlete has bigger issues. Fans are crucial to the existence of pro sports, but ultimately athletes play for themselves and teammates. These guys have accomplished a lot with their lives, they aren’t playing for Bill in Tonawanda. BigDingus Posted August 24, 2022 Share Posted August 24, 2022 I mean Palmer isn't wrong... Bills fans do view him as the "savior," and football is ingrained in Buffalo's culture as a city. And with Buffalo being one of the smallest markets, coupled with its heartbreaking franchise legacy, Allen definitely has additional expectations & dreams of the entire region heaped upon him. We can say cliche things like "Allen puts more pressure on himself than anyone!" or "It comes with the territory of being an NFL QB!" but I think most of us who lived through the SB era & suffered through the drought know it's a BIT more complicated than that 😅 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
