Taxes are going up in Orange & Osceola counties.

When Xi DeSantis signs the Disney bill - should Disney respond by dropping the Florida resident discount?

This should be fun, I can see Magic Kingdom fireworks from my neighborhood but please tell me what you know about Disney taxes and the Florida resident discounts? Do you actually think they make decisions about cost of tickets based on what Ron DeSantis is doing? They have invested about 50 Billion into central Florida, they are not going to cut off their nose to spite their face.

I don't know how Democrats are going to be able to handle what will be 12 plus years of trying to fight DeSantis.

Look what happened to them after 4 years of Trump.

Imagine what these lunatics are going to look like in 2032

He will be done soon. He’s the latest GOP flunky to gather attention by acting hateful. Whatever, he probably won’t even win re-election in Florida and you think Trump will let him steal any of his thunder nationally? Lol

Thank for admitting you know virtually nothing. Disney currently pays about $40 million a year in  county taxes, which is not much when you consider that universal studios pays about $10 million but has property that is at most 5% the size. Disney is right now not offering much in way of resident discounts and focusing on the people visiting from our of town. Now as for DeSantis, the quick nature of this change does concern me but I believe he has a plan and I hope quickly shows his hand.

Not to worry.  Joey is running again in 2024 (as per him).  The Repubs could run anybody and beat that disaster.

So now giving massive tax breaks to mega companies is fine?  Those that celebrated the work AOC did in keeping Amazon out of NY should be cheering this.  Yes, you should incentivize corporations to move to your state to create jobs and tax revenues. But those incentives should not last 50 years!

How much are the property taxes on Disney World?

Disney was levied $296.2 million in property taxes for its theme parks in tax years 2015 through 2020, all of which the company disputed. It will get a refund of $7.8 million for tax years 2015 through 2019, an average of about $1.56 million a year.   Jul 23, 2021

Right now, Disney pays taxes to Orange and Osceola counties, but all of the government-related services on Walt Disney World property—like fixing roads, fire department services and more—are paid for by Disney and Reedy Creek and not by county taxpayers.

Its theme park megaresort near Orlando attracts around 50 million visitors a year, powering a Central Florida tourism economy that annually generates more than $5 billion in local and state tax revenue. The upshot: Disney usually gets whatever it wants in Florida

Not anymore.  With their stock plunging and their revenue beign hit by Fauci-Wuhan virus and now what will likely be major boycotts, they're screwed.  It's not like they can just pull up stakes and go somewhere else.

It's amusing to me when the guy who is already a fan of taxing you more for entitlements rolls out the "its going to cost you more in taxes" argument. The calling you a racist conspiracy theorist traitor at the end of every post is just the sprinkles on the sundae.

We already discussed this and it is literally a lie at this point. No taxes are going up, and the special status is not needed anymore. Disney will continue in Florida for another century at least.

There will be no increase in taxes because if it happens Disney tax revenue will cover whatever the bond payment is anyways

With the significantly higher taxes Disney will end up paying, it will more than cover the costs to the taxpayers of assuming the services Disney once did.  Anyone who thinks that Disney was being magnanimous by taking a loss with the Reedy Creek Agreement is fooling themselves.  Or just a fool.

Hey Scott.....it's real simple.  Disney, like it's Silicon Valley cousins, are enemies of America - a hostile foreign nation that heavily contributes to Anti American Wokeness.  They have now decided like Bill Stime, women aren't really women.  And your gender shouldn't be decided at birth.  It's only a matter of time before teachers aren't allowed to say anything else...

The world would instantly be a better place if Disney, Twitter, Netflix, Facebook, or Google didn't exist - or, at least had significant competition.

Which, is impossible apparently.  So we're going to need the State to deal with them.  They've proven they will do it to us.

People have no idea how this ends - I think I do.  It's not going to be pretty.  I can tell you, measures like this will save public education or at least slow its self destruction.

Welcome to the War Of Woke Aggression Scott Adams.

DeSantis is our Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus.
