Mahomes has been a substantially better deep passer so far. If Allen finally got that lightbulb to turn on the rest of the NFL is in trouble. Nelius Posted December 20, 2020 Share Posted December 20, 2020 (edited) Remember when we would have accepted him hanging with Cousins and other borderline #1 dorks by year 3? I've loved Allen since the pick but I never thought he would be this good before the end of his third year. He's special and a top tier QB. You never saw Andy Dalton or any other average #1 just go off for 40 TDs in a year and then return back to Earth, so I think we're going to get used to these kind of stats. I don’t think there is any question Mahomes is a better deep passer than Josh right now. That said, deep passes that are caught are way more than people think about the receiver than the QBs. A lot of times, maybe most, are as much the WR tracking the ball, increasing or decreasing their speed, adjusting to the placement and trajectory and then catching it in stride.
