You mean the transcript prepared and scrubbed by the WH prior to release that is but one small component of the whole affair?

Either you are an idiot or a dupe.....I think you are closer to a dupe which is way worse...

That's false.

Learn how these documents are prepared. They were not scrubbed. They were not edited by the WH alone. The IC does 99% of it.

Is it ok for the vice president to actually demand and get foreign countries to fire a prosecutor trying to investigate corruption in his son's company while dangling foreign aid?

That’s not the question, Trump is literally being impeached for trying to cheat on an election that is coming up next year.

We cant allow Presidents to steal elections through bribery, extortion and abuse of power.

You can agree to that, right?

I mean the one that @LSHMEAB told me to read.  Which I did, and pointed out that it doesn't at all say what he says it says.

If you want to argue the veracity of it, talked to him.  He's the one who referenced it.

We did even one better.  We did not allow a candidate for POTUS to steal an election via corrupt means.  And yes it is OK for you to be on properly prescribed meds while participating here.  In fact I encourage it.  Your not at LORD Garth level today but you are a Harry Mudd.

He's (TH3) is also the only one I've heard say the transcript was falsified.

And if it was, that's a far bigger - and more impeachable - problem than Trump's foreign policy.  It would mean the White House improperly redacted an official government document.  That's a pretty big deal...that I see NO ONE complaining about.

Trump just got caught trying to steal the next election through abusing foreign policy.

We cant allow that. You have to make up a false narrative to, not deny what Trump did, but to do a whataboutism

What Trump did was totally wrong

It also shows incompetence, they still left in “I need a favor, though”

Then that call the next day is more proof of Trump’s motives

Oh, I've heard that a lot in LA.

"It's not a transcript! It's a summary, written by Trump himself!" is what the uber driver told me just today coming back from a meeting

Trump wrote a SECRET/NORFORN summary of a call, which he then declassified?  And that includes writing the comment describing how the memorandum is generated?

The guy who probably has trouble with Sesame Street, and undoubtedly had all his best-sellers ghost-written, wrote that memo himself?

Right?

I could only give the driver 3 stars after that because his cognitive abilities made me question whether he should be behind the whee of a moving vehicle...

Sure it's the question.  You see, that's what started-off this whole shitstorm.  Joe himself said that he extorted/bribed Ukraine into doing him a favor by withholding aid.  Those are facts from his own mouth on video.  Either it should be investigated with the same vigor Trump is now, or what Trump did should be similarly ignored.  You can't have it both ways.  Sorry.

But the difference is that Biden extorted the Ukraine to his personal benefit.  Trump didn't extort the Ukraine to his personal political benefit, because Biden's name was dropped.

Or something.  Just...read the fake transcript!  Read it!  It's all in there, but fake!

ROGER KIMBALL:  A tale of two quids: The Democrats have decided to weaponize impeachment.

Today marks the official beginning of the Schiff Show Impeachment Follies. It is therefore fitting that I take as my text for today’s meditation Matthew 7:5: ‘Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.’

What do I mean? I’ll tell you. The ostensible predicate of this spectacle is President Trump’s alleged effort to influence the 2020 election. Specifically, the allegation is that Trump made aid to Ukraine (the quid) conditional on Ukraine’s investigation of Joe Biden’s demand (the quo) that the prosecutor investigating a company on which his son, Hunter, sat be fired. Biden’s demand is not controverted. He bragged about it himself, in public, at the Council on Foreign Relations.

‘I said, I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars. I said, you’re not getting the billion. I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money. Well, son of a B word. (Laughter.) He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time.’

Unless you haven’t been paying attention, you know that ‘quid pro quo’ is this season’s ‘Russian collusion’. A meme that is ubiquitous but also empty. Just as in yesterday’s phrase, it’s all Oakland, at least so far as Donald Trump is concerned, with respect to any quid pro quo. You can read the transcript of the president’s call with the Ukrainian president. Read it. Then take this reading comprehension quiz: What was that call about? You get a gold star if you said if you said ‘Ukrainian corruption, especially efforts by Ukrainian figures and entities to help Hillary and hurt Donald Trump during the 2016 election cycle.’

Efforts to meddle in the 2016 election: that is what the call was chiefly about. Since that effort was part of a larger concern about corruption in Ukraine, Trump also asked about reports that Biden’s son Hunter was trading on his father’s name and position to peddle influence and line his pockets.

This is a subject that Adam Schiff will be at pains to avoid airing, but do not worry. It has been, and will continue, to be aired.

If you are worried about President Trump asking about Joe Biden in his telephone call to President Zelensky, what do you make of Ukraine’s efforts to aid Hillary Clinton and harm Donald Trump during the 2016 election? Back before ‘Ukraine’ and ‘quid pro quo’ became memes, even Politico, no friend of Donald Trump, was frank about that reality. On January 11, 2017 before Trump even took office, Politico reported that.

It's hard for me to image too -- despite living it  We joke often that we really broke up in 2016 but just don't realize it yet, like the couple in Beetlejuice who don't know they're dead at the start of the movie.

We decided on election night in '16 that we wouldn't let politics get in the way of the rest, so we spent 2017 not talking about it other than in passing. That was easy enough. But then the Mueller/Russia stuff kicked into high gear in 2017-2018 and my own work kicked up a notch which put that agreement to the test. I was traveling a lot though in that period for these meetings (I lived in my car driving between LA and SD for big parts of that year, then to Texas and DC a few times -- not to mention London), so not being around as much probably helped. We got into it on the Russia stuff -- to the point of her understanding what really happened (not because of me, but because she's honest and able to read evidence for herself) but she was still not willing to admit that dirty politics was behind it, instead she took the "it was a justified investigation because Trump MIGHT have been colluding".

Then I made her read the Mueller report -- now we don't talk about Russia anymore

The turning point came in late 2018 when she sat in on two (long) interview/debriefing sessions I had with several female victims of trafficking. The sessions were run by two of the agents I've become friendly with (and she's become friendly with in the year since) and she learned first hand from these victims (two children) what they'd been put through and by whom. She saw/heard/learned what drove me and them to care about most of this stuff -- almost 90% of which is apolitical -- in those two sessions and came out of it supportive (and really black pilled I think, sadly). Her only condition now is that we don't talk about the partisan politics (specifically the Clinton of it all) because she still loathes Trump.

Hard though it may be to believe, in real life and day to day interactions, I'm quite charming and capable of holding pleasant (even informative) conversations with all sorts of people who disagree with my positions down to the soles of their feet. I love the debate (as the board knows too well) because I want to hear the other side and find truth while I'm here -- but she does not love the debate, so I let her vent when needed and try (TRY) to keep my own powder dry for the sake of a blissful home life.

Sometimes it works, other times... not so much.

2020 will be a test though, because she's very involved in local politics at the party level which means I'll be going to a lot of fund raisers and speaking events with Schiff and Lieu hosting/speaking. I might have to sit those out because I don't think I can bite my tongue long enough not ask some direct questions. When I tagged along with her in 2016 I was very anti-Clinton (which made the Clinton fundraisers all the more fun) but saw Schiff and Lieu as dummies without any real ability to cause harm. That's different this time around. I don't think I'd be able to laugh off their fear mongering as easily as I did back then.

(the above also explains why I give the GarBobTibs of the board more time than they deserve -- always holding out hope for an honest exchange of ideas, even with people who disagree with me. Some would call that being a sucker ;) )

Yeah, political differences really don't matter that much. Often times I actually find it more interesting talking to someone I have some legitimate disagreements with, as long as it's an honest discussion.

Gary, Bob, and Tibs will never give you an honest exchange. They have no world view and no critical thinking skills. Their allegiance is not to principles but to a party. They're only worth interacting with to the extent you find it entertaining or can use them to illustrate a point.

My favorite leftist is Jimmy Dore. He's a straight up socialist, so I don't agree with him philosophically, but he's a guy who puts his principles above shilling for the Dems, which is really refreshing, especially in the age of TDS. I think you'd like this bit.

The interview is more evidence that nobody on earth would pay him $50K a month or more for anything he might be capable of on his own.

An army of emotional support dogs was on hand Wednesday to help stressed-out Capitol Hill lawmakers and staffers weary after a year of impeachment-related drama.

Hundreds of journalists, policy wonks and politicians including Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.) lined up to see the pooches as the first day of public impeachment hearings got underway.

One frazzled Senate staffer was seen clinging to a Japanese Spitz, while a handsome Collie named Remy was only too happy to take Bustos’ mind off collusion and quid pro quo. Blue the Goldendoodle also wore a tie for the special occasion.

The longer they carry on the charade the less it matters. They failed to heed the warning of the little boy who cried wolf just as they continue to fail to heed the warning of Lincoln Osiris.

This is one of those things where even if President Trump did EVERYTHING they're accusing him of, no one really cares. It's just not that big a deal.

they are obviously showing no concept that impeachment requires some form of seriousness, they’ll just blather on and on and on
