Put Curling in the same sport column as well. Curling is proof that not all "Olympic Sports" are actual sports... Curling is an activity just like Bowling. Archery, and shooting bang bang sticks... also activities. Highly skilled activities, but activities just like Darts... Running is in the Olympics, but I still put that in the activity category. I am a distance runner who does 2-3 half marathons a year, even I'll say it's more of an activity than a sport, and it's one of the "Original sports"... it's a highly specialized group of people good at their physical activity. Just like Body Building and weight lifting... not sports... activities.

Gray Beard
I would put running, cycling, kayaking, and surfing in the sport category with an asterisk. If done as a team, or with strategy involved, they could be sports. Same goes for beach volleyball, ping pong, tennis, or badminton. In your back yard or basement with beer, they are activities. If done to their fullest, they are sports. Maybe I should put this reply in the “Unpopular Opinion” thread. 2

The Real Buffalo Joe
Football Baseball Basketball Tennis Hockey Soccer Golf Bowling NASCAR Ping Pong Darts Hunting/Fishing Boxing/MMA Running Wrestling (here I'm assuming you mean Greco-Roman Wrestling, not pro wrestling.) Kayaking Surfing Biking Hiking Skiing The bolded ones are the ones I consider a sport. Skiing, Running, and Biking though can be both, all depending on if they're being done competitively. I used to say the same about NASCAR. But the pit crew has to be in tip top shape to fix up the car as fast as they do. And while the driver may not be doing much physical activity during the race itself, in order to withstand the 125° heat in that car, they have to keep themselves in peak physical condition. Professional wrestling is not a sport, in that it's not an actual competition. That said, although it's not really my cup of tea, I had a roommate that was really into wrestling, and watching it casually, along with the behind the scenes documentaries where they showed practice, and how they'd plan a match, I gained a new respect for them as athletes.

I meant greco-roman not WWE... WWE is entertainment like ballet, theater, or making a movie... which also are not a sports... NASCAR is not a sport, I've driven 500 miles in a day... not a sport. if you make a caveat for "Skiing, Running, and Biking though can be both, all depending on if they're being done competitively." the same would apply for NASCAR, as 50/50... and I still argue no on driving in circles really fast being a sport... it's a competitive activity that takes skill, but it's not a sport. Astronauts have to be in good shape to withstand extreme conditions, does that mean launching into space is a sport?

Also the constant G force they subject themselves to (especially in Formula 1) is astounding for those prolonged periods. Sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. NASCAR involves physical exertion, and skill. Fighter pilots are not doing it for entertainment. Roller coaster testers are also not doing for competition. For the record, I'm not even a NASCAR fan, but I have immense respect for what they do and it qualifies as a sport.

There we go, an intelligent response! interesting... so any activity where individual or teams compete for entertainment and has a physical component is a sport then? That means Log sawing, ax throwing, hell, doing those wonky obstacle courses on reality shows, are all sports? from American Ninja Warrior to Wipe Out to American Gladiators... All sports?
