Misterbluesky
Many of the guys from that era had a "get together" when spring training started in PSL,even Kranepool made it,Seaver didn't. Sorry to hear this news.

Tierlifer
Tom Seaver ranks in Mets franchise history: #1 in WAR, 78.9 #1 in ERA, 2.57 #1 in Wins, 198 #1 in Innings, 3045.2 #1 in Strikeouts, 2541 #1 in Shutout, 44 #1 in CG, 171 And still the Wilpons have no statue at Citi of this living legend who is the greatest Met of all time. Sad news indeed.

Sad news indeed. He's the only Met that ranks among MLB's all time greats. Had a number of 20 win seasons for .500 teams. All the best to Tom Terrific and his loved ones. .

You look at his numbers and then think...in today's baseball world,it's newsworthy if your starter pitches into the 7th inning. 1 hour ago, Tierlifer said: Tom Seaver ranks in Mets franchise history: #1 in WAR, 78.9 #1 in ERA, 2.57 #1 in Wins, 198 #1 in Innings, 3045.2 #1 in Strikeouts, 2541 #1 in Shutout, 44 #1 in CG, 171 And still the Wilpons have no statue at Citi of this living legend who is the greatest Met of all time. Gugny
Such horrible news. Mets have something to play for. Win it for Seaver!
Another Fan
Despite not being a Yankee fan their fans showed a tremendous amount of class when he got his 300th win at Yankee Stadium with the White Sox. Btw love those retro Sox uniforms
Nanker
Sorry to hear that . It's a terrible affliction. That said, I remember when he retired and went into the booth to be a commentator. On one pitch Seaver said, and I quote, "Right down the ol' poop Shute!" There was deathly silence in the booth for over a minute after that. Hooray Tom Terrific. You were entertaining on the field and in the booth.
Gugny
Seaver and Piazza "closing," Shea Stadium will go down as one of my favorite Seaver memories.

Seasons1992
There was a cover story about Tom in Wine Spectator a few years back, as he makes his own wine. He has Lyme disease, so he can't actually drink what he makes for health reasons. I would bet $1,000 the dementia stems from the disease. It hid in him for 20 years and just recently started showing signs of causing problems.
Formerly Allan in MD
He was one fine pitcher.
row_33
His best recent move was announcing a re-interest in doing WPIX Mets games 20 years ago so they booted McCarver in a heartbeat. Edited March 8, 2019 by row_33

We used to refer to those pitches as "c*ck shots".

707BillsFan
Incredibly sad news. I had no idea he had a winery. I looked it up, it's a few miles from my house. Unfortunately, it's closed to the public. Probably smart.
