Eh, some people did some things, so what?

They prefer to talk about real problems, like how Jews are termites/vermin in need of extermination.

Judge dismisses motions by 'Empire' actor's attorneys

Quote

The judge dismissed the motion for a new judge and also denied a motion by Smollett's attorneys to intervene in the case.

"It's become abundantly clear that no one wants to deal with the merits of this case," Glandian said. "Nobody really wants the truth here....We are disappointed with the court's ruling and we're going to explore our options."

I do enjoy that his attorney claims "no one wants to deal with the merits of this case. Nobody really wants the truth here".

Judge to rule on tossing suit against Smollett in October

A federal judge hearing the city of Chicago's lawsuit against Jussie Smollett says she'll rule on the actor's request to toss the suit in October.

The 10-minute status hearing Tuesday was the first since the civil case was moved to federal court from state court. The former "Empire" actor didn't attend the hearing in Chicago.

Next hearing October 22nd.

Wow, that is some reason to not have to pay -  I filed a police report but didn't think they'd really investigate it so well.  <_<

I still am not sure this should happen (law of unintended consequences and all that), but the defense's reasoning is

Jussie Smollett lawyers: Even if actor faked attack, cops didn’t need to investigate it so vigorously

SNEED EXCLUSIVE: The ex-”Empire’’ actor’s latest court filing, while not admitting he staged the incident, pins the decision to spend so much money on the police probe squarely on law enforcement.

</snip>

“We contend the city is wrong,” Quinlan said of the city’s assertion that Smollett should have known the city would spend nearly 2,000 hours investigating. “ ... The mere fact somebody filed a police report doesn’t presume the investigation will be done and certainly not to the extent of what the city is claiming.

The dumbass should have just kept his mouth shut when he got his corrupt deal. Spiking the ball before doing a touchdown dance afterwards just pissed the city off.

He should take lessons from Tony Podesta on how to act when you are being investigated.

To be fair, that's probably the only legal defense he has left that a jury might buy.

California’s Newsom signs bill allowing citizens to refuse to help a police officer

By Edmund DeMarche | Fox News

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, on Tuesday signed a bill that no longer requires any "able-bodied person 18 years of age or older" in the state to help an officer who requests assistance during an arrest.

The Sacramento Bee reported that the old law, the California Posse Comitatus Act of 1872, was common in the country’s early days, but Sen. Bob Hertzberg, a Los Angeles Democrat who sponsored the bill, called the old law a “vestige of a bygone era." The law was employed to help catch runaway slaves, the report said.

The old law made it a misdemeanor that carried a fine of up to $1,000 for refusing to help a police officer who requested assistance during an arrest.

The report said Newsom did not issue a statement after signing the bill.

A law enacted in 1872 was used to help catch runaway slaves, seven years after slavery was outlawed?  So it had to be repealed 150 years later?

That is the single bullshittiest of bull#### justifications I have ever seen.

Nice to see that they were serious in 1872.  That $1000 fine would be around $31,000  today adjusted for inflation.  They really had the posse on a pedestal.

The Trayvon Hoax That Divided America Is About to Be Exposed

by Jack Cashill

Original Article

On Monday. September 16, Joel Gilbert will preview his new documentary, “The Trayvon Hoax,” in the 500-seat Ballroom of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The screening begins at 1 p.m. Admission is free, and Gilbert is encouraging all interested parties to come see for themselves what could be a game-changer in the way the media report racially-charged news. Gilbert’s findings are that significant.

(snip)

he has unearthed a legal fraud the likes of which I know no parallel. Not only has Gilbert discovered it, but he has also proved it six ways from Sunday, including DNA and handwriting analysis.

The Trayvon Martin Hoax Comes Crashing Down

by Karl Notturno

Original Article

Remember Skittles and iced-tea? In the aftermath of Trayvon Martin’s fatal confrontation with George Zimmerman, the media went to great pains to characterize the teenager as an innocent kid who was shot for wearing a hoodie while black. After all, this depiction fit their narrative—their narrative of a country filled with racist rednecks just waiting for a chance to shoot innocent and unarmed black teenagers.

That's true, assuming that men aren't people.

The real victim here is the false accuser whose story is subject to any form of scrutiny.

Edit: Maybe she should interview Brian Banks, whose collegiate football (and projected NFL) career was destroyed when he went to prison based on false rape allegations.

NEW ORLEANS RADIO HOST THREATENING TO SUE OVER ANTI-GAY TWEET THE STATION CLAIMS HE SENT HIMSELF:

A radio host in New Orleans said he received an anti-gay slur, sent to him from the radio station’s Twitter account. On Wednesday, WWL host Seth Dunlap, who is openly gay, said he planned to sue the station’s parent company after working for years in a homophobic and hostile workplace. In a strange turn of events Thursday, the New Orleans Police Department said the homophobic tweet sent to Dunlap came from none other than Dunlap’s phone.

Read the whole thing. Curiously, the words “Jussie Smollett” do not appear in the CBS News article itself, but they are in the article’s meta title: “Seth Dunlap Louisiana: WWL Radio host threatening to sue over anti-gay tweet sent the tweet himself, station claims, similar to Jussie Smollett case – CBS News.”

Falling For Racist Hoaxes Is A Symptom Of Self-Loathing

by David Marcus

Original Article

Another in a long string of racist hoaxes has come to light this week. The story of a 12-year-old girl at a Virginia Christian school, who alleged that three white boys pinned her down, insulted her, and cut off some of her dreadlocks, has turned out to be false, after the girl admitted she made the entire incident up. This particular case had the added bonus of taking place at the school where Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, teaches. And the media could not wait to leap to their assumed priors about what they view as the bigotry of the second family. It was perfect. Too perfect.

IT’S BASICALLY ALWAYS A HOAX: Hoax confirmed: ‘Whites Only’ sign at UW-Madison was part of protest for ‘underrepresented students.’

The administration waved off the possibility it was a hoax in its first response to the signs, tweeting that it “stands against hate and racism” and was investigating the “racist” signs. One commenter quickly raised the hoax possibility.

Two hours later the administration abruptly reversed itself, saying the signs were not actually racist.

It can’t be racist if it’s being used to promote an approved message.

USA Today: Jussie Smollett fails to persuade judge to drop Chicago lawsuit seeking $130,000 fine

Link to story below:

A federal judge in Chicago on Tuesday refused to dismiss the city’s lawsuit against actor Jussie Smollett, who claimed he was attacked by two white men in a hate crime.

U.S. District Virginia Kendall’s ruling will allow the city’s lawsuit to try to recoup $130,000 the police department spent trying to get to the bottom of Smollett’s claims.

Smollett’s lawyers argued that their client should not be forced to reimburse the city because he could not have known how much time and money police would spend investigating.

</snip>

Earlier this month, Abel and Ola Osundair, the two Nigerian brothers who were accused of attacking Smollett in a hate-crime hoax, met quietly with a special prosecutor, TMZ reported.
