It wasn't assigned to them. It was an e-mail sent to middle and high school students from the district that recommended books to read over the summer from a linked Illinois Lincoln Award List. Whoever put out the list should be disciplined though whether it was intentional or negligence. The part that bothers me is why it made the Illinois Lincoln Award list.
