Make or Break Game for Shady

Recommended Posts

Id like to see him rework his contract to become a 3rd down back/mentor. I realize this is just a pipe dream but he is still very effective as a receiver coming out of the backfield. However we will have cap room so waiting until after free agency and the draft and seeing if you have a suitable replacement might be wise

...you may be able to prolong his career a bit if i=his role was more like Thurmal/Kenneth Davis.........let Ivory & Murphy do the heavy lifting....think Kevin Faulk mode and how the Pats used to kill us with his versatility out of the backfield.................

I think he has a big game. It has to be killing him, having such a dismal year by his standards. I give him alot of credit for remaining a strong team guy. He has remained loyal to the coaching staff and teammates especially. I hope Bills fans realize that in today's NFL that quality of leadership isn't easy to come by.

Hopefully they get him and Allen the help they need for next year.

The Dolphins run defense has been abysmal this season.

They are 4th in YPG and have given up 13 runs of 20+ yards. I think this game will tell us if Shady has anything left in his tank at all. If he lays an egg, it will be time to say g'bye. If he does rush well, at least we will have hope.

It appears the run defense woes are primarily because they are so thin at the interior DL position (and they released JP 97, ha ha!). That means Shady should not dance around to the outside, but run north south between the D Linemen. Can he still do it?

Yup, make or break. If he makes then what? If he breaks then what?

Stupid thread, Shady is a fringe HOF and a good or bad Dolphin game isnt going to change anything.

Shady is my favorite player on the Bills and he’s the biggest reason the drought is over...he’s got to stop dancing and just get to the hole.

He knows 100x more about playing RB then I will ever know but he’s trying to make every run a highlight reel run. There comes a time in every RBs career, where they lose a step. Maybe it’s that time, maybe it’s the scheme, maybe it’s the Oline, maybe it’s a little of everything. Either way, get to the hole first, then make a move. That’s the way Ivory does it. That’s the way it works in this offense. Just because it’s different, doesn’t mean it’s bad. Shady can still be excellent. He just has to do it in a different way.

fine post right here. perhaps he is a shade too quick to the line of scrimmage . maybe out of shotgun would help??
One thing about him, i am guessing , is that he has excellent vision. Especially peripherally. Maybe that his issue. he looks for the best lane breaking . Which line man is getting leverage and then what is the coverage behind  that crease.
agree  , he does need to trust the play call.
maybe he is a delicate sort and does not like to take a hard hit after all ?

then get him in space. not like waterbugger CJ Spiller space though !

ps i want to see more Ivory to grind the ball and make teams respect the middle too much. then bring Shady in

We won’t know until after halftime. ?

I don’t know how a guy this many years into the league could have a make or break game. What does that even mean???

Question is....is the o-line coach regressing him??  Thats been somewhat the talk about Catillo + the talent of our line (which seems to be getting abit better as of late)......Shady definatly needs a breakout game but i think it would help to incorporate abit more of Ivory in the plays.......Run the ball & kill the clock this weekend!

Why isn't it make or break for this offensive line? Where is the criticism for Dawkins? He has not elevated his play in year two.  The rest are all playing terribly in either run or pass or both. I hope Teller gets better but he is awful in pass protection almost to the point he makes Miller look ok. Bodine is just awful at everything. Mills sadly is adequate at RT at times but then goes multiple drives with no push in the run game.

With Shady its hard to point the finger at 1 thing as the reason for his disappointing season so far. Because imo its not Shady thats changed, its the cluster***** problems on offense that we have. The line, the qb debacle thruout the year all play a big part in it. Its almost like the Tyrod effect, where defenses dont respect our passing attack & cheat towards the line of scrimmage. There's not a lot of daylight out there & as the game goes on Shady probably tries to make things happen where he shouldnt bcuz he's so desperate to do something. Thats not saying i think he's played to the best of his ability bcuz he surely hasnt. But i do believe the problem is more on those other circumstances than it is on him.

Plus it also doesnt help your running game when your teams been blown out 5 or 6 or 7 games out of 12.

Like others have said, this game isnt a make or break game for Shady. I wouldnt even put it at this season for him. But it should be make or break for other players. We're all counting on some substantial off season upgrades. Hopefully it happens, for all of our sakes.
