However, the great irony is that not only are a Bills team that made the playoffs last year in a clear rebuilding mode, but also even stranger, a team which went so deep in the NFL playoffs last year looks even worse. For me it harkens back to a comment a Dallas Cowboy made when he was asked by the press in a pre-Super Bowl media scrum. whether the upcoming SB was the most important day of his life. He replied, "If the game is so important, why do they play it again next year? (Was it Duane Thomas or Hollywood Henderson?). At any rate, the worst to first possibilities do make the NFL interesting (in an adrenaline kind of way) but I must admit I miss the good old days when "the process" demanded a few years to make it work (and conversely a few years of correctable bad moves or unlucky injuries to see it fall apart. They have 41 players under contract next year and they are still $15-$20M over next year's estimated cap. Players like Dareus, Gipson, and Church have to be released just to get them close. They are stuck with Bortles for one more year at a cap hit of $21M. They took their shot and missed, now they will be paying the price. What’s the cautionary tale exactly? At least they took their shot. They went to the AFC Championship game. Thats a huge step for a franchise that couldnt win more than 5 games in a season for a decade. We have all the cap space in the world and are still chasing our tail. Allen's window isn't open yet. Someone tell me why the Jags can't draft Justin Herbert in the top 10 this year, have an open QB competition, and be able to run the ball all year with a healthy Fournette? Jacksonville's defense is more talented then Buffalo's, but Buffalo is getting similar production out of their defense for 40 cents to the dollar compared to Jacksonville. If we play it smart we can fix the OL no problem and we will have plenty of cap to sign LeVeon Bell. Our offense truly needs a superstar. We have no QB to pay. By the time we begin contract talks with Allen (if he even makes it that far), Bell's contract would be up. That definitely makes our offense decent. Hopefully Zay continues to grow. Definitely sign a few veterans at WR as well like Tavon Austin and John Brown. Aggressively trade down and draft 4-5 linemen. The Jags have their cap spent because they have a ton of talent. It’s easy to fix a talented roster almost over night. It’s less easy to make a bad roster into a good one over night. I'd rather have the hope and a mid-to-late draft pick (particularly given their seeming recent success with getting top ten talent later in the round) than a complete mess and a high pick in a meh draft. I want the Bills to win every game. I’m the last guy you have to convince. All I want is the season to be as long as possible. I just want them to keep winning so we have a season for 1 more week.
