I could never be a politician... all these procedural moves would get on my last nerve. We all know how this is gonna end: her words stay, she comes back and yaps, Ds lurch further left (because they react to Trump in the worse way possible), everyone screams on Twitter for "their side", rinse and repeat.

2020 should be a helluva ride. 🙂

Oh, and the debt ceiling dealings should be "fun".  I doubt much else gets done before the 2020 elections.

CSPAN keeps saying it's only happened once before, in 84 when Gingrich did it to Tip O'Neil.

(no idea if there have been more)

And if there was ever going to be a historical precedent for this, of course it would involve Newt and Tip.

This news organization is cited here quite often. Glad they're so unbiased.

Back to your Republican meltdown - #orangemanbad's next tweets are going to be extra whiny

I read about this debt thing a couple of weeks ago.  It's gonna be crazy.

I can't help but thinking with all those smart people in Washington you'd think they could figure out some way to not have this debt crisis come up every few months or so.  But then I think again. It works great for them as is.

They're not even serious people at this point.

Wait....with all that has been going on in DC  you're calling this a Republican meltdown??  Seriously???   This is one of the funniest (and saddest at the same time) posts.  Good job!

You’re looking at it the wrong way.

The mistake you’re making is that you’re proceeding as if their goals are to solve problems, and conduct the business of the People.

That’s not why they’re there.  They’re there to create fiefdoms, and inter generational political legacies that essentially install them as royalty, enrich themselves and their progeny, and place them and those close to them above the law.

Towards those ends a look of bumbling, and the action of providing their constituents with pork much better secure their end goals.

They are incredibly serious people.

Agreed.

I sometimes fall into the old romantic idea that they are elected officials by us to represent us in congress and make America a better place to live for all it's citizens.

They're really good actors I guess.

It's totally a power/money game.  There's only 3 reasons to get in politics.  Power, money, and babes ( or whatever you like ).  I need to remember that better.

I still don't think they are serious people.

This is the left lately. They're the Shooter McGavin of politics. Unable to construct their own message or even insults, they go into the forest and try out the ones that are successfully thrown at them.

You'll notice they will call you a snowflake. They'll suggest you're having a meltdown. All the chides tossed at them. Their lack of originality leads them to, essentially, respond with "I know you are, but what am I?"

Has everyone lost their minds? An elected congresswoman calls the President a Mother F$&&er and we’re alarmed because he’s critical of her political positions? Is there a comparison here?

AOC and these other Congresswomen are a gift for Trump. They're loud, the media loves them because they know if they give them a platform to attack Trump that he'll retaliate with comments that some will deem racist or misogynistic. Additionally their politics are way too far left for the American voting public and because they have a platform they're dragging the Democrat Party farther and farther left, which in turn allows Trump to harp on them as socialists.

"Good Morning" from President Trump would be deemed racists, misogynist, xenophobic, bigoted, etc. etc, ad nauseam to the "far left".

I can't believe regular people (ie, those that are not highly political) haven't tuned this out yet.  If I wasn't so entertained, I'd be over it too.  😛

You’ve never seen the video where she tells her constituents she’s going to Washington to ‘impeach the Mother F$&@er”! Look it up. This wasn’t a tweet. She says it in an open room full of her voters.

This is hyperbole. Trump knows exactly what he's doing. I don't know if Trump is a racist, but I believe his comments the other day were racist.

There's no doubt in my mind that if I went into my office and told someone of colour to go back where they came from that I'd be fired on the spot.

Trump's strategy was designed to illicit a reaction and once again it worked. The current rhetoric of concentration camps on the border and kids in cages is gone, and instead he makes a comment that borders on the line of inappropriate (like many he's made over the past three years) and it changes the narrative. Instead of talking about the border, and the disaster of a situation down there, the focus is now on 4 far left wing Congresswomen and their socialist policies.

Trump is a master at controlling the narrative. He's seen nothing but bad press for a couple weeks now, and now he's changed the narrative to something he can fight head on on twitter. Mission accomplished for him.
