YOU’RE GONNA NEED A BIGGER BLOG:

Democratic Presidential Clown Car Update for November 4, 2019.

“Beto goes bye bye, sticker shock sets in for Warren, Grandpa Simpson forgets which state he’s in (again), and a failing Harris goes all-in on Iowa.”

.

Harris says her failing campaign shows that “America’s not ready for a woman of color as president.” Since her falling poll numbers are only from Democrats, that must mean that Democrats are racist.

The real reason Kamala Harris is tanking

Quote

Once regarded as the Democrats' best hope to take down Trump, Harris has seen her polls collapse, her donations tumble, and her campaign in shambles. She claims her woes show that the country is just "not ready for a woman of color" to be president.

This is rot. What the country is not ready for is another cynical and self-serving bully-in-chief who, in her case, is masquerading as a progressive.

...

Harris has long billed herself as a "progressive prosecutor." To most people, that would strike as oxymoronic. But to her this meant using the carceral state that conservatives like to tackle social problems that progressives care about. She's got the mindset of a cop who wants to save you not from the bad guys but yourself. "She repeatedly fought for more aggressive prosecution not just of violent criminals but of people who committed misdemeanor and 'quality of life' crimes," Reason's Elizabeth Nolan Brown noted after an exhaustive look at Harris' record.

...

On the theory that high-school dropout are more likely to become criminals, she personally championed a 2011 state law that made it a criminal misdemeanor for parents to let kids in kindergarten through eighth grade to miss more than 10 percent of school days without a valid excuse. As if that was not bad enough, she also persuaded the state legislature to back the law with harsh penalties that included a minimum of $2,500 in fines and a one-year jail sentence. In other words, to prevent criminality in the future, she criminalized parents here and now.

...

What accounts for Harris' draconian record?

Part of the reason is that just as surgeons have a bias for wielding their scalpels to treat illnesses that can be cured by less invasive means, Harris wanted to use the law enforcement tools at her disposal to solve social problems that could be far more humanely tackled through other means.

Trump would probably defeat Warren, imo

There's nobody presently on the dem side that can beat Trump. The polls that are out in public are not designed to show what people are thinking but to influence their thinking. Get ready for 4 more years of Trump. That's not such a bad thing for you though, that means the minimum wage will go up what with the continued booming economy.

Warren will tank in the primary after her health care rollout last week, unless she revises her plan or adds the customary dem carve-outs for unions, gubmint workers, pols, etc...  Mark these words.

Joe Biden even if he is dead the day before the election can beat him. The Democratic base will turn out. Our base is bigger than your base

This is what we have to look forward to if Lizzy or Bernie are elected:

Strange I don't recall either of them being socialists.  Medicare for all is a socialist program no denying it but supporting it doesn't make you a socialist.  Farming subsidies are a socialist program.  Do we now hate all those farmers for benefiting from a socialist program?  Or does supporting it make us socialists?  182 Republicans supported $867 million in farmers aid just in December.  Should we stop subsidizing middle america (my answer is no obviously)?  There are so many "socialist" programs already in place.  Medicare, Social Security, SNAP, etc..  Interesting choice in Venezuela too when almost the entire world has some sort of free or universal health care.  In fact 8 of the top 10 GDP countries in the world have some sort of universal health care.

It works for the rest of the world but somehow the US can't figure it out.

Taxes go up!!!  That is the republican talking point.  Don't pay attention to the fact that you no longer have insurance premiums, co-pays, or prescription costs and in many cases people will save money.  Don't pay attention to the fact that your health care is tied to your employer and losing your job means you don't have insurance any longer.  A couple of weeks ago there was a post about if lefties read opposing view points.  I do, and I want to supply one to challenge all anti-universal health care people to read and reflect on this.  https://pnhp.org/take-action/reaching-out-to-conservatives/  it addresses a lot of the talking points and dispels a lot of myths.  Medicare for all makes so much sense I am surprised when I see people against it.
