What about his history over the past five years gives you THAT impression?

I read a lot about him and I think that way too. I used to think he must just be an idiot until I took a deep dive. He's a really interesting guy and not at all just a jerk or worthless addict.

Well, apparently the browns disagree.

C'mon man, you asked why and we answered you.  I've been rooting for this young man to succeed for several years because I like him.

Now with an opportunity for him to join the Bills my answer is yes.  I think McD could be really good for him.

No, they kept him all this time and gave him 100 second chances partly because he was so good and equally because they knew he was not an ass. Dorsey is new. Probably said I have a zero tolerance policy and he did something. We don't know what it was yet. It's possible it was very dumb but not certain.

He can be a really interesting guy and not a jerk, but if he can’t control his addiction and be all in and all there for his team, he isn’t very valuable as a football player

I’m sure it’s not the same folks, but I’m amused that people complain about Watkins (always hurt) and Clay (disappears except against Miami) and Benjamin (appears occasionally when he feels energized or something) but want to bring in a guy who hasn’t been there for his team except sporadically.  How would that differ?

And net-net...what did he do with those 100 second chances?

That's the bottom line here. It's not whether or not he's likeable, or smart, or interesting, or even talented. It's whether or not he can be relied upon to even show up.

If you trade for him before he’s released, yes, but if he’s released, he’s a FA

Correct.  That's why you trade for a player before he's released.

You said you don't trade for a player who's about to be released.  In the scenario where you want the player you do.

Being an interesting guy is great and all, but if a team cant trust or depend on you to play on a week to week basis, then youre worthless at the NFL level. Its no different than the real world.

I didn't complain about Watkins or Clay and only mildly about KB. I want star players. I don't mind taking flyers or minor risks which this would be.

Of course and you are correct.  The question with Gordon is the what if.

It makes zero sense to compare the massive investments made in Watkins and Clay to the Gordon situation.  If Beane is trading a pair of firsts for him or offering 10 million per year, then we should definitely have this discussion.

Nathan Peterman and his squeaky clean attitude is worthless at the NFL level too. That's why they can just be on a zero tolerance policy with him. He's not going to ruin the team or locker room. If the one out of ten or twenty possibilities hits, we win the lotto. I wouldn't bet on Josh Gordon. But the Bills are a better bet to win with Josh Gordon than without him because our WR are the very worst in the league.
