People aren’t blaming Allen. They’re tripping over themselves to defend him. I’m not sure what the OP is talking about.

He might not be the best QB in the roster right now. It’s close. Anyone that doesn’t think he’s the most talented is an idiot though.

He was -5 yards passing. It's not blame, it's not hate, it's not saying he's a bust, it's saying he probably needs a little more time. With an offensive line is horrible as this you got to get rid of the ball faster. Is what it is. Deal with it.

How do you expect him to get the ball out faster when he’s waiting on 15-20 yard routes to develop?

Honestly Allen couldnt handle the pressure today but Peterman can he has a quick release and gets ball out in a hurry.

If our oline was better Allen would shine more, but as it is i think everyone could see peterman as the better option right now.

Plus i dont want our oline getting Allen killed.

I agree.  He' was not given a chance to succeed today.  However, neither did he earn the chance to be starter.  Peterman showed some ability to move the balll in spite of a relative lack of protection.  I'm not saying he should be the long term starter, but if the competition is ended today, I don't see how McDermott can name anybody but Peterman as starter.

For me that's not the question. The only thing that matters is when Josh Allen is ready to start he will start. It doesn't matter what Peterman or McCarron do unless one of them improbably takes the league by storm. Allen is obviously the most talented QB on the roster, but he is not ready to lead this offense right now. They have to start Peterman until Allen can be productive in this offense. If that means he sits a year and learns while we rebuild our line and receivers, so be it.

Would’ve been much worse if he was just chucking it up to avoid sacks.

Would have been a lot better if he'd just chucked it at his WR's feet and avoided a sack.

Good QBs feel pressure and get rid of the ball by throwing it where no one can catch it while avoiding a grounding call.

Allen needs to learn that sacks kill drives in the NFL. You can't pat the ball when pressured.

I thought he did well given the conditions.  He had 2 bad throws, the rest were on target, he hung in their under pressure  and showed great athleticism.  That said I want him to sit, whoever our QB is needs to process and read the field quick, at this point Peterman does that best.

Allen made a bad situation worse by holding the ball way too long.

You seem to have no understanding of how good the Bengals starting secondary is which would explain Allen holding the ball.  Do you think it's better to throw picks?

It just seems like Daboll was running a whole different offense in the 2nd half.

He wants to unleash JA’s arm. Not something you can do with Nate. But he learned tonight he simply does not have the line to afford the time he needs for Josh’s arm plays to develop

Wow. I avoided the gameday thread but I can't believe anyone would pin that on Allen. I'm just impressed he's in one piece. Sheesh.

Anybody remember Troy Aikman's rookie year? I think he was sacked like a hundred times and almost died. Everyone needs to just take a deep breath and relax. Josh Allen will be just fine and he showed a lot of poise today. Now Daboll and McDermott have to go to work and find a better combination of offensive lineman.

We ran a lot of short throws last week and for some reason this week we weren't calling those routes. I do wonder how the offense would have looked if Clay and Benjamin catch two passes right in their hands and Allen is given that 1st down. In a single half of football it only takes 3 plays like that to cause a big swing in momentum.

Why would anyone blame Allen? If anything I just saw how tough as nails he was, he should of had a concussion after sack #2, I think he lasted until sack #4 and this was the only reason I didn't want him starting this year. I definitely think we'll be in the market once some OL get the axe when they make roster cuts.

My take exactly. This kid has the poise to stay in the pocket & take a beating like a man. Sadly he could set the rookie record for sacks behind this joke line. Derek Carr’s 80+ sacks record look out!

He did today - subject him to that for a season (or half a season) and he will have happy feet and throw to nobody - ruined...
