Coach Hue Jackson needs to keep Taylor in the shotgun and build his offense around the threat of Taylor as a runner, which Rick Dennison didn't do in Buffalo last season. That should be just fine if the Browns draft Barkley; the Penn State star took 598 of his 671 carries out of the shotgun and averaged 5.8 yards per carry on those attempts. The potential first overall pick averaged 5.3 yards per carry on his 73 attempts from under center. As a bridge quarterback, Taylor is a massive upgrade on AJ McCarron, who seemed like an obvious target in free agency after the Browns tried to trade for him last season. The New Browns? Sam Darnold is the leader on the backstretch to be the top pick, with Josh Allen a length behind. The fourth pick would lean toward either running back Saquon Barkley, defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick or defensive end Bradley Chubb. Then the Browns have the first, third and 32nd picks in the second round, giving them three more chances to bring in a running back or a receiver or a left tackle as insurance for Joe Thomas' age and possible retirement. Talk of the tank was a bunch of garbage, and I never played into that. The Browns, on the other hand, have been the leagues WORST team for years. Getting them to 6 wins is an achievement and is a sign for better things to come. Can't build Rome in a day, and you can't cure the Browns in a single off season (or apparently 3). It's a start for the Browns, nothing more. Well......yeah.......as Parcells said getting from the dregs up to a winning record was infinitely easier than getting from around 9 wins to 12 wins. Obviously he took a 1-15 Dolphins team to the playoffs the next season. But more recently the Jags were horrendous in 2016 and made the AFC Championship game in 2017..........the kind of infusion of talent they are capable of can get you in the playoff mix pretty quickly. Firing bad coaches is a necessary evil but having to fire competent HC's because players stop listening to their message is a big problem. They obviously believe in Hue and I am sure they realize they've thrown him to the wolves and he deserves to show what he can do while the incubate their young franchise QB. They need a QB like Tyrod who isn't going to lose games but is also a catalyst when added to explosive WR talent.........this is a great fit for TT and if Hue can't make it work then maybe he's not the guy they think he is after all.
