If I am drafting for the Browns I take SB the RB at #1

They are guaranteed a top 3 QB at #4 there is no such guaranty that SB is still there if they go QB at #1 JMHO

That would be Brownsy and also nutso cuckoo!

There has to be one QB that the Browns like more than any of the other ones.    If that guy is one of the top talked about prospects, then they are nuts to not take him at 1 unless they trade up and take him at 2.

Browns have the cap space to sign Cousins and take Barkley #1.

Depends how convincing Scot McCloughan is against Kirk , I think Dorsey will know which QB to draft otherwise.

With the way that organization has been run,i could easily see this happen.

...safe to assume the Browns "hots" for McCarron are no longer even with him being a UFA?................

First off I think the Browns don't take any chances and select their QB with the 1st overall pick. I had been mulling the possibility of Saquon Barkley going #1, but a lot can happen with NY and Indy that loses them their guy. With that being said I think the Browns take Mayfield/Allen/Darnold with that selection. There is a report that Rosen doesn't want to play for the Browns so I can't see them drafting a guy who would loathe being there.

I have wondered about that.  The Chargers did just that.  Then they got a guy who was drafted a little later, and shook the Giants down for a first round and two later round picks.

If Rosen doesn't want to play for the Browns, and there's another QB they could be happy with, I would think they would at least explore that and not assume they would avoid drafting him.

I think it might take 2 trades to get into the top 5. Nobody with a top pick wants to drop that far down the draft board. Both of our 1sts might get us to 8-10. Then from there trade that pick plus another pick and a player with someone in the top 5. I think that is why you are hearing about the Bills calling around trying to get into top 10. If they really do want to eventually get to pick 2 I think the Giants will still want to remain in the top 10 if possible.

I agree with you.  I think the Bills are trying, predraft when teams have time to vet players medically, to see what it would take to package one of their 1st round picks and a couple of players and move up into the top 10 because as you say, it would give them more options as a trade partner.

I'm not in the trade up crowd, I'm in the sit tight crowd and play the compensatory picks game. We could walk out of this draft with 4 starters and some nice depth. Rudolph and Jackson could both be there, maybe Josh Allen, we'll see.

i tend to agree. i would love to be able to use each pick. the first 2 for me is vita vea and mason rudolph. assuming  that the decent free agents have all found homes, i would also take a qb later....such as a white, lauletta or ferguson.

roll with nate and a couple of young guys and let the process play out. however, i would rather throw my last pick to denver for kelly. sooner or later he will emerge. i also have confidence in nate's development. i think he can give us an alex smith type of year, especially with a healthy receiving corp to go through camp with.

That's a good strategy, Vea and Rudolph would be solid picks. We may get an additional 3rd if we lose Gaines. Could have two 2nds and two 3rds, could completely rebuild the entire roster. A young QB would fail here if we gave up everything to get him, we have too many holes. How we made the playoffs last year I have no freaking idea.

See this is why I have such an issue with trading up. The Bills have so many holes to fill and the draft Ammo to do it. Why don't

They just do that this year . I totally get that a Franchise QB is the most important position but will a rookie QB win a super bowl without a supporting cast?

Drafting a QB is a multi year process. You have time to build around them. You are shooting for 3 yrs out. You draft other positions and then draft a QB then by the time the QB is good everyone is a free agent. How many of our draft picks from 3 yrs ago are still on the team? Man I can't believe I have to explain this to people. We have done the same stupid thing for 20 yrs. Get a top QB and worry about the rest later

The difference this year is they have 5 picks in the top 100. Tell me the last time they could yank 5 starters out of the draft?

I think Gettleman is in a similar position that Beane is with in Buffalo.  A new GM has about 1 crack at drafting a QB and that move more than likely will dictate their future.  Unfortunately, I think the Giants are in the perfect position to draft a QB to sit behind Eli for a season.  I can't see them trading down

I would want to get 1 of the Vikings QBs , not sure yet if Bridgewater will be a FA or if reasonable trade for Foles.

There is no guarantee another team will let us trade up high enough in the draft. In that case take a QB at 21

all taking QB's in first round of draft or in Free Agency

#1- CLE

#2- NYG

#5- DEN

#6- NYJ

#15- ARZ

#22- BUF

I think one of these teams will sign Cousins to a mega deal. The rest of the FA QB's will most likely be bridge QB's so the other 5 will still be taking QB's in the draft. The best situation if the Bills want to move up is Denver signing cousins and trading their spot to Buffalo. I dont see Buffalo moving up to #2

Signing Cousins or Bradford or whomever does not preclude a team from taking a QB in the first especially if they do not have a whole lot of need at other positions.  Even if they did not intend to keep the prospect they could earn "interest" by getting the original draft capital back plus in a year where the draft is QB poor and a team figures that they are just a QB away from a deep playoff run.

As others have said before do not overlook teams such as Cincy and Miami for making a move on a QB.  Doubtful they would move up to the top 5 but less chance of a prospect falling far into the teens.  If they did want to move up it would cost them less in terms of number of picks versus a team sitting in the 20's.

Signing a 29 year old Cousins and then drafting a 1st round QB doesn't make much sense at all.  With Bradford it does.

After the 1st week of FA the whole QB landscape in the draft draft could change. @SI_PeterKing in MMQB today said there is belief that Giants will pass on QB at 2. I don’t think Browns take a QB at 1. Been saying it for weeks
