I can understand the concern after the Rex Rob move, but I don't see McD jeopardizing what he's building like that. He is a Bill O’Brien guy (at Penn State and Houston) and O’Brien finally canned him last year. Im not a fan of this hire, but hopefully it works out. Really doubt it when you consider the short life HC often have. You want to make sure you have the best staff around you as if you don't and things regress, you'll be out of work just like this guy was. Does that mean that their paths hadn't crossed prior and as a result had developed a friendship, quite likely they did, but the hire is because he thinks he'll help the staff, not just because he's a friend. Regardless Byrd should not have been fired in the first place and this regime is continuing to raise a lot of questions about the competency.
